still a better love story then twilight
Jesusloveselvis22 August 2017
Still a better love story then twilight 10/10 ign. Also has no magical lighting fairy vampires in the sun dust, so I guess that also makes this film better.Plus the lead actor is Shrek and Shrek is love, shrek is life. I would advice anyone who is blind to watch this with the sound turned off for maximum pleasure.

Horrible Don't Bother
KMRocky25 May 2012
Warning: Spoilers
This is a horrible movie, the only reason I saw this movie was because it was on a $5 DVD with 8 horror movies on it. The film is about a female student named Chloe befriending a vampire named Aurelius. The pace of the film is very slow, there isn't much of a story or plot to the film at all. The first half of the movie is Chloe and Aurelius just casually talking back and forth like a couple of shy teenagers getting to know each other. Their conversations seem pointless and boring, it makes the hour and twenty minute movie seem like it will never end. We don't find out Aurelius is a vampire until the second half of the movie, then their pointless conversation turn to even more boring ones about him being a vampire.

The only stereotypical vampire traits Aurelius follows is that he drinks blood, which he buys from a traveling blood bank. He doesn't bite or kill anyone and he walks around during the daylight like everyone else.

There is no story and no plot to this film at all unless you like watching two teens have unmindful conversations about nothing I wouldn't waste your time watching this.

What the hell
dp-1727526 February 2019
This movie is perfect, it's so bad, so funny. This movie is the Room version of Twilight. Vitaliy Versace has no idea how to make a film and it shows. Awful acting by both actors who's careers are probably ruined, awful camera work, awful lighting, awful everything. 99% of the movie is in-room audio, and some scenes you can't hear what the characters are saying. The fact that the mother comes to the conclusion that her daughters boyfriend is a vampire because he threw up during dinner is baffling. It has not intention of being funny, yet is. Don't let yourself be tricked by the 'Twilight' like cover. This movie is a disaster and should be viewed by everyone as a comedy. Don't buy it, it's on You-tube in it's entirety for free. Highly recommend, much better than 'Suicide Squad'.

Not Twilight; more like 3:30 on a wet afternoon
floraposteschild25 September 2017
I came to The Last Vampire On Earth with some misconceptions: that it was a Christian film (Jehovah's Witness beliefs come into play, though the filmmaker has only the vaguest idea of what they are); that the lead actress was also the lead in C Me Dance (no; CMD's Christina DeMarco is practically a SAG award winner compared to Last Vampire's McKenzie Grimmet, although they both have that doe-eyed, hit with a brick from behind look); and that it would be performed by actors. No one in this film can act. Nor can the editor edit, the sound engineer sync up sound, nor, almost needless to say, the director direct. Even craft services is non-existent or sub-par. At two so-called family meals, KFC is served up by the characters, without comment. Except when the vampire later throws it up, which turns out to be a surprisingly important plot point. Fine for some laughs, if you like this sort of thing, but this film is not even good enough to have on in the background at your Hallowe'en party.

No-budget religious-girl-meets-good-vampire love story
Wuchakk30 September 2017
RELEASED IN 2010 and directed by Vitaliy Versace, "The Last Vampire on Earth" chronicles events in northeast Ohio when a nice religious girl (McKenzie Grimmet) meets a mysterious-but-nice guy (Michael Bole) at college and falls in love. Problems arise when she and her family discover that he's a 2000 year-old vampire (!). Even worse, she's diagnosed with a fatal disease.

This is an extremely low-budget flick with wooden non-acting, stilted dialogue, bad lighting, questionable sound, basic camera angles and so forth. On top of this, the writer confuses traditional protestant doctrine & practices with that of the Jehovah's False Witnesses. For instance, there are references to "going to church" and the "pastor" when, in fact, JWs don't use this terminology. Their meeting facilities are called "Kingdom Halls" (which, to be fair, is referenced once in the movie) and their leaders are referred to as elders. The "Kingdom Hall" building depicted in the movie is a traditional church facility. Obvious flaws like this reflect bad (or non-existent) research.

The second thing you need to understand is that this is not a horror story. It's a youth drama or love story involving a winsome girl and a good vampire. If you can overlook the low-level of production and adapt to the movie's limitations, the story's generally engaging with a couple of boring parts.

The director was born in Russia and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. This was only his second movie, but he kept at his chosen craft and has gone on to bigger and better things in filmmaking. I love to see people make-do with what they got to create and improve as they persevere in faith. Do not despise humble beginnings.

THE FILM RUNS 90 minutes and was shot in Youngstown & Boardman, Ohio. WRITER: Mandie L Abraham wrote the screenplay based on her self-published novel.

GRADE: D

A budget would not have hurt
juharbackman31 July 2021
I'm all for amateur film making, and I do my best to appreciate the efforts. And my expectations were, I think, realistic. However, this looks too much like the first or second reading of not the final edit of the script while the camera crew has not yet figured where to put the lights and the sound crew is still struggling with microphones.

The basic premise of a moody teenageish drama without attempting gore effects or stunts is not a bad starting point for a movie where the makers are aware of their limitations, but when the filming material cost is about nothing, then just doing the basic checks: does this look ok, and what could I improve, and does this sound ok, and what could I improve, would have been close to a salvation for this. Just taking a bit more time to rehearse, plan, and review, this cast and crew would have had a nice amateur film in their hands.

A lame Twilight rip-off
Leofwine_draca8 April 2017
Warning: Spoilers
THE LAST VAMPIRE ON EARTH is an example of what happens if you try to rip off TWILIGHT on a budget of zero dollars. It's a lame teen romance featuring very terrible acting, laughable plotting, and an ugly filming style that makes the whole thing look bleached. It's very hard for me to think of something nice to say about this production; maybe the music is half-decent, but that's about it. The main problem is that they forgot to make any of the characters interesting or likable, and that alone kills the film.

i can't believe the sophistication and subtle nuance of this film!
flynt-9363421 August 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I think the director may have gone too far in a few places- however, it was stylistically designed to be that way, and what he did was to diminish the effects of it. This film couldn't have worked without Chloe- she's the key to all this, because she's a funnier character than what we've seen. It's so dense, every single image has so many things going on... And again, it's like poetry, it's sort of, they rhyme. Every stanza kind of rhymes with the last one. Hopefully it'll work. ***SPOILERS*** I think my favorite part was when Chuck and Ralph had to crash the plane into the reservoir in order to destroy the tainted Pizza Rolls infected with "the Spector's essence ", but I found it refreshing that instead of the typical boy meets girl sub plot, they went the route of adding a mathematical thriller element to offset the overall commentary of white appropriation of African influence in classical music. It's like the Craft meets Three Days of the Condor!!! Highly recommend- and remember... "all is quiet in the night!"

Hysterical
emelielinneas30 November 2022
I love this movie, I really do. It's so incredibly badly made - the actors seem to regret even showing up on set throughout the entire movie. The chemistry is nill, zip, zero, nothing! The aids-speech is a scene to die for. The person who seriously wrote the script must have had a brain aneurysm or something, because it's really odd.

The movie has no stakes, and the motivations are very uncalled for. The knock-off Edward Cullen lead (who gets his blood from a blood bank!) has no charisma. He seems to be almost relieved when he's bound, and is to be burned at the stake by a group of Christians.

I'd recommend this to everyone. It really takes you for a ride, can it really be that bad? - Yes, yes it can!

The best adaptation of "The last vampire on Earth" novel
luketr-1914321 August 2017
This film is hands down one of the best adaptations of a novel for the big screen ever made, right there with The Lord of the Rings and Fifty shades of Grey. Versace proves to be one of the greatest cinematographers of our generation with his unique visual style, camera movements, framing and photography. The lead actors are extremely charismatic and fun to see. The script does a good job in creating good dialogues and set pieces and being faithful to the source material. This is a must see film.

Fantastic movie
linkman7995 October 2013
This is the best movie i have ever seen in my entire life. The cinematography was amazing and the deep symbolism was too deep to grasp by most people. I love how the main Character constantly had the expression of a minotaur, I think it really tied the movie up and just made it amazing. I love the bond that the two characters build during the movie and i find it to be really relate-able and i would even dare to compare this movie with other pieces of film gold such as 2:13, The Puppet Master, Twilight, and Bloody Marry. I loved this movie and i would even dare to say that is is my new all time favorite movie of all time, I strongly recommend that you watch it and i think you will love it.

MUST watch...truly incredible!
katiespice-3692510 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
10/10 Vitale, you've done it again!! This film is a staple in our household. I will never look at a water pump the same way. This movie has inspired me to major in hematology even thought it isn't a real major. The special effects in the ping pong scene are top notch. How do they do it?!?

The editing is truly Oscar worthy. When you have perfection there is no need to cut anything out. The part where Chad trips up the stairs is cinematic genius. I believe his football skills have landed him a starting position with the Cleveland Browns.

I do like a director who has the guts to include a very long blood pouring scene. Shout out to the best actor - the professor.

May this movie live in infamy. God bless LVOE.

Birdemic With Vampires
jonathanorr26 April 2022
If you want to see a movie where the lines are delivered without any semblance of emotion or effort put behind them, here ya go. It's honestly far more enjoyable than most movies you will watch. A spectacular failure is always better than a regular failure. The dialogue is cheesy, the lighting is amateurish, the sound is barely audible, the acting is wooden, and the plot is incredibly dumb. Just the complete opposite of firing on all cylinders. But hey. I don't blame the actors. They had a chance to be in a movie and took it. Good for them! I highly recommend this if you are a cheesy movie fan.

Endearing and unique
tim_higham1626 July 2023
People who rated this movie a 1 are insane. This movie is great and is at least trying something unique

This is a bonafide hood classic. It has a lot of problems, but it is earnest in it's twist on the vampire romance genre

I champion the single vision directors out there, and we are sadly in the age of studios mass producing 7/10 movies for profit.

Vitaly has aimed high and not really hit the mark here, but the viewing experience was unforgettable.

I don't watch movies to have a perfect experience, but I watch them to feel something.

Maybe I'm just biased to super low-budget movies, but we need more movies like this in the world.
