Originally director Leopoldo Laborde did a major change to the script, having the character of Tadeo as a young man with high morals and religious conflicts, doing of his transformation into a zombie as a personal struggle. The character have the personal confrontation of his need of eating the living body parts of his victims and then chose to eat his own body through the film, eating first his hands, then his feet and finally his own legs and organs. The film's producer, Roberto Trujillo decided that having an animatronic for the character's final sage would rise the costs, so they decided to having real actors with body parts missing working as body doubles and the final scene would be solved with set design and camera tricks. But the filmmakers don't count with a big problem solving the actor's eating his body parts: the Covid pandemic appeared on the production's filming stage so the production crew's safety and the then new protocol and filming health precautions. When the new script demanded the actor's eating his body parts (that would be accomplished with consuming materials such as special jelly, bakery and marmalade) caused a big doubt since the Covid pandemic official information was ambiguous and this new situation created a big mistrust and apprehension on the filmmakers so this whole idea needed to be scrapped, causing the film's director a strong personal and professional frustration.
Shooting of the film had to be delayed because of the Covid pandemic in Autumn of 2020.
