This was the last edition of the second series, a shorter than usual run as multiple ITV series had been affected by industrial strikes. It was reported in The Stage (18th October 1979) that "Paul Stewart Laing's London Night Out, originally affected by the NAATKE overtime dispute in July, has been interrupted mid-series with only three or four in the can."
The Daily Mirror (31st October 1979) stated that: "During the ITV dispute Tom was one of the few television regulars to enjoy himself. "I did my usual summer season," he said. "But for once I didn't have to dash to London every Sunday to record a show."
