- Romantic adventures await Brad and the final three women as they travel to spectacular South Africa. From a remarkable safari, to a private ride on an elephant, to a picnic high atop majestic cliffs known as "God's Window," the dates are filled with passion and excitement, as Brad continues to explore what his future would be like with each of these potential mates. At the end of each evening, Brad will present the bachelorette with an invitation to spend an intimate night together in a "fantasy suite," with the hope that she will accept. But will she? It's a wild, romantic ride with each of the women - until Brad makes a shocking, heart-wrenching decision he thought he would never have to make.—ABC Publicity
- We open with African music played over a montage of wild animals: an elephant, a lion, bachelor Brad. "Africa is incredible, but I'm here to make one of the most important decisions of my life," the Bradster tells the camera. "I feel so many emotions right now." Brad then not-so-uniquely compares his emotions to a "roller coaster" as we watch yet another montage -- this time of Brad's prey: weepy Chantal, insecure Ashley and beautiful Emily. Get ready, America: its overnight date week in South Africa.
The first date goes to Chantal, who joins Brad on a -- you guessed it -- safari. They almost immediately spot lions -- sleeping lions! "Oh ... my ... God," Chantal gushes. Says Brad: "The lion is the animal I wanted to see the most ... more importantly, I'm witnessing this with Chantal." A giraffe, some elephants, a rhino and many super-excited gasps later, the humans camp out by a river for a picnic (while a man with a gun stands watch -- seriously). Chantal declares that she feels "safe" with safari Brad, which is apparently a "metaphor for what's going on in our relationship." The make out with a hippo watching.
Later, Chantal and Brad have dinner. "I would love for you to meet my family," Brad says. "I'm definitely the most comfortable around you." Chantal then suggests that the two skip the engagement and get hitched. Brad loves her "spontaneity" -- so much so that Brad invites her to the fantasy suite, which turns out to be a tree house in the middle of nowhere. "What happens in the fantasy suite stays in the fantasy suite," Chantal tells the camera. The making out quickly begins -- and progresses to giggling as night falls.
The next day, a refreshed Brad greets beautiful Emily, who wears beautiful Daisy Duke jean shorts. Brad then runs back into the brush, claiming he "forgot" something. What he forgot is a giant elephant ridden by a guide. Emily climbs aboard, claiming that riding an elephant in Africa has long been her "dream." Opines Brad: "Riding elephants, it is so cool." If you say so, Bradster. Brad then claims that he misses beautiful Emily's daughter. "Does she understand what it means if we really start to spend time together?" Brad asks. Emily asks if Brad is ready for such a commitment. "Yeah," Brad proclaims. The music soars. The would-be couple make out. Another montage of elephants.
Later, Emily and Brad have dinner. Suddenly, the date becomes tense. A nervous Brad hems and haws -- and can't seem to say what he apparently wants to say. Emily tells the camera that she knows Brad is still nervous around her, but hopes she can show him that she is really falling in love. "If I'm the person that you want to be with, then, you know, and just, it, you know ... I, I just want to do it," Emily stammers. Brad, however, is beyond touched by the sentiment -- so much so that he invites Emily to the fantasy suite. Emily agrees on the condition that they continue to take things slow. "I have only said 'I love you' to one person in my whole life," Emily tells the camera. Beautiful Emily then confesses to the Bradster that she is "falling in love" with him. The music SOARS and Brad more or less says "likewise." They make out until the camera pans away.
The next day, a doubly refreshed Brad greets Ashley, who is somehow more perky than usual. The pair walks and giggles and giggles and walks until they come upon a helicopter. Although a helicopter is featured in almost every episode of "The Bachelor" ever produced, Ashley is utterly SHOCKED. Apparently, she is afraid of helicopters. Thank goodness for Brad, who comforts his screeching lady friend. It's not long before Ashley also feels "safe" in the arms of safari Brad. They land on the grassy cliff top and enjoy a picnic. Ashley confesses that she has a great need to succeed and worries that her commitment to becoming a dentist will be OK with older, wiser Brad. "You remind me exactly of my self," says Brad, who apparently worked all the way through his 20s. "Maybe I can help you find balance," he says. "Maybe that's why I'm here." Maybe.
Later, Ashley and Brad have dinner. Ashley tells Brad that their earlier conversation about career goals has her "wheels turning." "It's all about compromise," she says. Meaning: she would follow Brad to Texas if need be. But she obviously wants to graduate first. And she obviously wants to travel. Brad is soon confused. "I feel there's such limited time with such an amazing woman, you know?" the Bradster says. "And I still have questions." Ashley doesn't have an easy answer for the bachelor. "I'm not looking for a perfect situation," he says. "I'm just looking for a perfect situation for two people, whatever that might be. I don't know." Now WE'RE confused. Regardless, Brad invites Ashley to stay in the fantasy suite. She quickly accepts. Because the conversation remains so awkward, Brad decides to kiss Ashley. It's better than talking.
After a recapping heart-to-heart with host Chris, Brad faces down the three women. He clears his throat, shuffles his feet and then asks Ashley to step aside for some one-on-one time. They acknowledge that their one-on-one date was terrible. "What the hell happened?" Brad asks. "I don't know how we have such bad miscommunication." Neither does Ashley, who admits that she might just be "protecting myself." She soon begins to cry. Brad decides that it's not fair for Ashley to suffer through the rose ceremony. "This is surprising to me," she tells Brad. "I thought this was it." But it wasn't. Brad is "confident" in his decision and says goodbye to Ashley. Ashley, meanwhile, doesn't even want the Bradster to open the door to the Hummer for her. "I'm just a little hurt right now," she explains. The bachelor looks crushed, but we suspect he'll recover.
Sure enough, Brad returns to Chantal and beautiful Emily -- and quickly recovers. "The women left, Emily and Chantal, are amazing women," he tells the camera. Luckily for the bachelor, both of the remaining ladies accept roses. In two weeks: the women will meet Brad's family in Cape Town. Stay tuned, America.
