If you aren’t laughing within the first minutes of Tim and Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie, then it is simply not for you. As someone whose only previous attachment to the duo was last year’s Sundance short The Terrys, Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim have created a genius work of surrealist, inane art. Despite some minor lulls when it goes too over-the-top, the consistent laughter derived from this had my jaw aching.
After a series of false starts kicking off with Chef Goldblum (Jeff Gold…well, you know) introducing a product to redefine movie watching, then a handful of movie logos that lead into a glitzy, diamond-filled film starring a Johnny Depp lookalike, we learn the duo blew $1 billion to make this three-minute movie. Needing to recoup their losses, they see a perfect match on TV: an ad for Will Ferrell‘s S’wallow Valley Mall, offering $1 billion...

"My Dad told me this was the coolest mall ever. You think you know more than my Dad? Don't f**kin' come then!" For the first Midnight at Park City screening here at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival, Adult Swim stars Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim returned to the festival (after debuting their strange short The Terrys last year) with Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie. Our titular characters try to earn a billion dollars to pay back the money they wasted on a big movie, and myself and Germain Lussier from SlashFilm recorded a video blog reviewing the film and letting people know whether it's just for the fans. Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim wrote and directed Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie which finds the duo given a billion dollars to make a movie. However, things go completely awry, and Tim and Eric end up leaving Hollywood and show...

After making a splash on Adult Swim with Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!, the very first live action show to crack the network's line-up, Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim have been slowly building up a name for themselves with their surreal sketch comedy and seizure-inducing editing style. They have since directed a handful of music videos and short films (the most recent of which played at Sundance earlier this year), and Tim recently launched a podcast called On Cinema. Now the time has finally come for a feature-length Tim and Eric movie. Behold, the first teaser trailer for Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie! Not much is known about the film, and the trailer really doesn't reveal much in that regard. However, we do know that it is being produced by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay, and in addition to Tim and Eric, it also features appearances from Zach Galifianakis,...

If you have yet to experience the joys (er, terror) of Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim, a good primer is this year’s Sundance short The Terrys. One of my favorite at the fest, you can stream it in full here. The duo behind Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! went ahead and directed their own feature film titled Tim and Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie, and I bet we’ll see them return to Sundance again this year with it. The plot is simple, as “two guys get a billion dollars to make a movie, only to watch their dream run off course.”
They star in the film with a supporting cast that includes Zach Galifianakis, Will Ferrell, Jeff Goldblum, John C. Reilly, Erica Durance and Will Forte. We have the first teaser today via Funny or Die and it looks to be as wacky as one might expect.

For their 5th annual event, which is set to run Sept. 8-11, the Sydney Underground Film Festival is looking a little more demented than ever. And that’s saying a lot for this scrappy, still relatively young fest, which typically offers ample twisted cinematic offerings.
The fun kicks off with the Opening Night film, the demented superhero comedy Super, written and directed by former Troma go-to screenwriter James Gunn (Tromeo & Juliet); then ends with the Closing Night wallowing in Sydney’s seedy underbelly, X, by homegrown filmmaker Jon Hewitt.
Crammed between these two excursions into violence and depravity is a lineup filled with perverse visions, scandalous public figures, sickening horror, experimental pop culture remixes and more.
For Bad Lit: The Journal of Underground Film, the highlight of the fest is Usama Alshaibi‘s Profane, a complex psychological, psychosexual, spiritual morality play about a Muslim sex worker who endures a “reverse...

Plus A First Look At The Trailer For 'Tim and Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie' Of the curated programs we've seen this week at Los Angeles Film Festival is a retrospective of the music video work from Eric Wareheim that also included an uncensored version of his short film with Tim Heidecker, “The Terrys.” The actor/director was on hand for the event this past Thursday, so not only did we have the chance to see his eye-popping videos projected on the big screen, but we got to hear him speak afterward about his directing process, making it on MTV and his…...

A harrowing tale of street drugs, illicit sex, and spousal abuse, The Terrys is a deeply vulgar 14-minute short brought to you by Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim (Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job!), who star as the titular couple. The adorably triangle-headed Adam Scott (Party Down, Parks and Recreation) narrates this deeply Nsfw, yet weirdly heartwarming, chronicle of a modern romance and the wonders of child-rearing. And crystal meth.

I was pretty excited to see The Beastie Boys‘ 30 minute short film/music video Fight For Your Right – Revisited at Sundance this year. The cast includes (wait for it) Elijah Wood, Will Ferrell, Danny McBride, John C. Reilly, Seth Rogen, Jack Black, Susan Sarandon, Stanley Tucci, Orlando Bloom, Kirsten Dunst, David Cross, Will Arnett, Amy Poehler, Jason Schwartzman, Adam Scott, Rainn Wilson, Steve Buscemi, Chloë Sevigny, Alicia Silverstone, Martin Starr, Ted Danson, Rashida Jones, R.E.M.’s Mike Mills, Ad-Rock, Mike D, and McA.
During the screening, the disappointment immediately hit when I realized this is nothing but an over-indulgent, hyper-active piece of nonsense. The effect wears off quite soon in the 30-minute piece. You can read our full review and watch our video reaction, but unfortunately this was a vapid waste of time. The trailer, however, is not. You can see the style they are going for and...

One of the most hilariously disturbing shorts I saw at Sundance 2011 was from Tim & Eric, who are currently shooting their feature film Billion Dollar Movie. We gave you a review (both text & video) for The Terrys, and I’ve been waiting for it to pop up online. And now it has.
As I said in my review, “featuring crackpipes, dry humping, saliva exchange, full vaginal birth, and abuse of every kind, this short from Tim & Eric is certainly not for everyone, but if twisted humor is your thing, this is heaven.” Check out the Daily Distraction below and if you haven’t guessed yet, it is very much Nsfw.
Synopsis:
Two down-and-out losers conceive a child in a fit of drug-induced passion. They consider the child an abomination, but they learn that this “special” child has a special purpose.
Did you “enjoy” the short? Are you a fan of the duo?...
