Season One of Ghostbreakers was shot primarily in the Shreveport-Bosier City area. Real haunted locations were used when possible.
Ghostbreakers was conceived on an overnight road trip by Benjamin Wilbanks and Gabriel Horn. Driving from Los Angeles to Texas listening to the annual Coast-to-Coast Halloween "Ghost-to-Coast" special. By the time they reached Fort Worth they had the idea worked out and shot a sizzle reel within two weeks. Most of the people who worked on that sizzle reel went on to work on the pilot episode if not the series itself.
The unaired pilot was filmed at the Shreveport Water Works Museum. A future episode would eventually shoot at the same museum but with an entirely different story-line.
Shanda designed most of her own wardrobe for Ghostbreakers. Sometimes at her own expence if she felt strongly about it. Creators Wilbanks and Horn, in interviews, have concieded that her dedication made her character and the entire production significantly better.
Gabriel Horn and Joey Greco also worked together in Night Crawlers (2009), with Benjamin Wilbanks as its director.
