Funny!
chips-1921 April 2011
Phelous is a very funny show. He is a lot like the Cinema Snob but reviews a wider variety of films. He has dry humor that is hilarious and some of the riffing is on par win mst3k! My favorites include Troll 3, Army of Darkness, Santas Slay and Night of the Living Dead 3D! One thing I think could be improved is that, like the Nostalgia critic, some of the videos drag on too much. Ironically, his review of the film "Birdemic" drags on the most yet that was still one of the best from him. One thing that sets him apart from other reviewers is that his reviews are also kinda like Youtube Poop! Like in the Case 39 review with the random Billy Mays sound clip! Overall, I really like this show.

Fantastic series

Phelous is a very very good show, and full of my kind of humor. One reason I love it is because Phelous reminds me very much of myself. and its great to see someone with my sense of humor actually making something worthwhile.

Phelous (Portrayed brilliantly by Phelan Porteous) is a seemingly immortal man who constantly inflicts upon himself terrible movie after terrible movie. He's died countless times, and even come back as side characters such as the bizarre Selouph, a reverse Phelous who's life's goal is to take over Phelous' show and turn it into a romantic comedy review show. There are also characters such as Phelous D1 (who's motives are never quite clear) and the occasional cameo from a Mortal Kombat Character.

Phelous is perhaps my favorite contributor to the "thatguywiththeglasses" team. He's funny, Very dry (and I do love me some dry humor), and a heck of a lot of fun. If you haven't seen it, I say check it out.

A Great Youtuber that is only getting better

Phelous started out mostly doing reviews on horror movies and would usually parody other critics. But as time went on, it got to the point that he became just like the other critics he was making fun of. It wasn't until he left Channel Awesome and started talking about things other than horror movies that he started becoming one of my favs.

Phelous started talking about things he was clearly very passionate about, such as TMNT, The Real Ghostbusters and Transformers G1. And also he would start reviewing animated knockoffs. I think the thing I like most about Phelous is how in depth he would get with his newer reviews. I love hearing about the backstory of things like Dingo Pictures and Goodtimes. His Crossover reviews with the Cinema Snob and Obscurus Lupa are probably my favorite of his videos

Check him out sometime, it's worth it. Specific recommendations would be His Crossover Review on Puss 'n' Boots His review on Lion and The King And His Review on Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

Underrated and Fantastic Series! Warning: Spoilers
There's something about this kind of comedy that's hard to explain. You know how most review channels these days will be all about overreactions? Phelous is the counter to that - his humor is a sharp parody of bad acting, and delivered with a pleasant dry aftertaste. He's aware of himself - deeply, DEEPLY aware - and his meta humor often strikes a chord - if you've seen the source. I highly recommend watching Phelous and the Movies in order; you don't need to see every episode, but knowing the source of his classic gags makes them much funnier. To get more specific with my review, let me break down the "arcs" of Phelous that I know of. The first arc is his driest, and a little bit slow - if you're watching in order, I recommend only watching the first one, "Mac & Me" to get that context, then continuing with the second wave, starting with "Cabin Fever" - Arc 2 is his long horror wave, constant reviews of horrid horror. Arc 3 technically starts with "Birdemic" but doesn't really hit official "Arc 3" until "Boogeyman" where he starts looking at more prevalent films - looking at more stuff you've actually heard of. This arc is just as enjoyable to me as 2 since either context is funny to me. Arc 4 marks the biggest change in the series - it was hinted to with "Turtles Forever" but didn't really start until "TMNT: Coming Out Of Their Shells." This arc marks Phelous' shift into reviewing bad cartoons instead of bad horror. This is definitely a different flavor of the show, but it's still easy to appreciate nonetheless. The current arc is Arc 6, and still has that cartoon focus but also reviews bootleg toys (technically a separate show, "Bootleg Zones" but still pretty much good ol' Phelous). It's a little slower to me now, but it still has some gems, and I think it'll hit its stride again in no time. Phelous has a bunch of characters that often come back for a visit! He has guest stars from time to time, but he's known for playing almost every character himself in his show. From modern favorites like Crazy Old Old Man and Wabuu the Cheeky Raccoon to timeless classics like Tinfoil Shredder and Sub-Zero, Phelous has a character for every situation. I hope to see his Casey Jones and Silent Hill Nurse again one day! Every arc is worth watching and Phelous always puts a smile on my face. He's criminally overlooked, and I hope more people like you start checking him out!

I Love it

Phelous will forever remain funny with his dry humor, funny edits and snarky remarks. Whether he is rewieving horror movies or animated atrocities, he does a great job of perfectly breaking down - and making fun of, often with extremely funny reactions - of everything he puts his hands on. Just wonderful.

Unfunny

Warning: Spoilers
No matter how much I try, I still don't see what's the big deal about the videos made by the Nostalgia Critic and the other reviewers from the "That Guy with Glasses" website.

Many people seems to love them. Many people quote them in many websites, forums and blogs, and many people consider all the comments made on those videos as the pinnacle of comedy and movie criticism.

Many enjoy those videos. But not me. Perosnally, I hated all the videos made by the Nostalgia Critic, Phelos, the Nostalgi Chick, the Spoony One and the others. I didn't find anything funny, clever, or remotely interesting about them. No matter how much I try, I just don't get what's the big deal about those videos.

In my opinion...Phelous is not much better than the Nostalgia Critic. I find both to be equally annoying and unfunny. Sorry.

Warning: Spoilers
Remember the Channel Awesome forum? I do. Here comes the king of Resident Evil movies and obscure Europan Dingo Pictures cartoon knock off DVD's and PS1 games reviews. And remember I don't like this movie...
