The DSLR camera used to shoot the film was released twelve years before production. The director installed magic lantern to use in the camera. This enabled the film to be shot in a RAW format as opposed to the cameras native H.264 compression.
There was no sound mixer or boom operator on the shoot. A small shotgun microphone was placed on top of the camera and plugged into a Zoom H4N Pro sound recorder. The actors had radio mics on.
Dan Hasson wrote the film during the first two months of lockdown in the UK during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The two leads, Tom O'Brien and Dan Hasson, have been friends since childhood. They went to the same schools together growing up.
The film is black & white for two main practical reasons. Firstly to not have problems with different color temperatures from practical lights, which was inspired after reading about Kevin Smith's reasons for shooting Clerks in black & white. Secondly because the mold used in the bathroom scene was made from rubbing damp instant coffee on the silicone and it did not work in color.
