The second season (or “Part”) of The Jinx is arriving on HBO nine years after the conclusion of the first and, wholly coincidentally, right on the eve of the Jewish observance of Passover.
This timing has me thinking of “Dayenu,” the festive song in which we recite the various miracles of the Exodus, one at a time and each followed by the declaration of “Dayenu,” meaning “It would have been enough.” So… Leading us out of Egypt (“Dayenu!”), parting the Red Sea (“Dayenu!”), giving us the Torah (“Dayenu!”) and so on.
When it comes to the first six episodes of The Jinx, it goes something like: If it had just been an exceptionally well-produced depiction of a twisty, unresolved series of murders tied to real estate mogul Robert Durst? Dayenu! (Or it would have been enough for a generally enthusiastic review.)
If it had just been an exceptionally well-produced documentary...

Along the way, they travel to Scotland to meet recent eyewitnesses to the most legendary sea monster of all – the Loch Ness Monster, and to investigate any possible links between “Nessie” and the beast that may have attacked Ub-85.

This week on Finding Bigfoot, the team head to Wisconsin where the locals prove helpful to the investigation. Most Bigfoot investigations rely on local knowledge for information on sightings or even likely spots. Locals usually know the terrain well enough and they also know all the stories. Sometimes these tales are very tall indeed but others seem to have the ring of truth to them. In Wisconsin the local info leads them to a night search of the area that turns a little bit worrying. For the first time in nearly eight months, Kassem Gharaibeh (known online as Kassem G) has released a new video on his YouTube channel. In a very special episode of his web series California On, Kassem heads to the woods to search for the legendary Sasquatch.
The documentary is titled California On Sasquatch: A Not Finding Bigfoot Special, and at more than 30 minutes in length, it's the longest video Kassem has ever released on his YouTube channel. It begins with some of California On's typical man-on-the-street interview segments before Kassem takes a trip to Pocatello, Idaho, where he and local resident ShayCarl visit a man who collects Bigfoot relics. In the third section of the video, Kassem and his team of not-quite-experts (including YouTube content creator Rawn "HiImRawn" Erikson) venture into the woods, where they hope to catch sight of the legendary cryptid.

Hopefully you checked out last Sunday's premiere of HBO's "The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst," which I gave an A- review and said had the potential to be the year's best new show. Director Andrew Jarecki's second attempt at unraveling the mysteries surrounding Robert Durst, including the three murders he's been linked to over 30 years, began as a slow-burn building to the revelation that, after seeing Jarecki's "All Good Things," Durst agreed to sit down with the filmmaker. This Sunday's episode relies heavily on Durst's recounting of his own biographical details, but also gradually shifts that focus to the "character" of Durst's wife Kathleen McCormack, missing since 1982. Even in her absence, Kathleen McCormack looms almost as large as Durst and, in an important role, Jarecki himself. I got on the phone earlier this week with "Capturing the Friedmans" director Jarecki to talk about the structure and narrative direction of "The Jinx,...

Although they haven’t, to my knowledge, found much convincing evidence of Sasquatch, the self-described “Squatchers” of Animal Planet’s Finding Bigfoot will continue the hunt when a new season of the series begins Nov. 9 at 9pm Et/Pt. At the start of the season’s eight new episodes, the team is supposedly “hot on the trail of what they believe to be the world’s largest Sasquatch.” That enormous Bigfoot is the subject of the two-hour season premiere, which takes Bigfoot Field Research Organization (Bfro) president Matt Moneymaker, researchers James “Bobo” Fay and Cliff Barackman, and skeptical scientist Ranae Holland, off to Alaska. … Continue reading →

Animal Planet's motto for the past few years has been “Surprisingly Human,” so it should come as no surprise that of the six new series on the network's 2014-2015 slate, only two have anything remotely to do with the furry critters that are its namesake. Shows about rugged survivalists in northwest Canada, a reclaimed redwood tree carver and a guy who designs swimming pools are among those that join veteran “surprisingly human” series like “Finding Bigfoot” and “Treehouse Masters” for the upcoming season. As "Finding Bigfoot" Season 4 came to an end with its finale, "1,2,3, 4, I Declare a Squatch War," there is an important question to ask: Did they find Bigfoot?
The answer is ... Of course they didn't find Bigfoot! What would be the purpose of a show like this if the searchers actually discovered the mysterious woodland creature they seek? At least, in the season finale, you can't say the lack of discovery means a lack of trying.
Keep in mind that the team split in order to cover the largest amount of sasquatch ground in a single episode. While Bobo and Cliff headed south to Oregon, Matt and Ranae traveled north to Washington. The goal: Determine which Pacific Northwest state is the "squatchiest."
This gives us another controversy in "Finding Bigfoot." Not only do we need to wonder whether there is a Bigfoot at all, but now there is a debate over comparative squatchiness.

Animal Planet's "Finding Bigfoot" is back for Season 4 of some seriously entertaining sasquatch hunting. Zap2it has an exclusive sneak peek of the episode, "Return to Boggy Creek," airing Sunday (Nov. 10) at 10 p.m. Et/Pt.
Watch as the team travels to Fouke, Ar, the site of the 1972 bigfoot documentary "The Legend of Boggy Creek." It's more than 40 years later, but the small town's residents still claim to see a bi-pedal, human-like creature they call "The Fouke Monster." In the clip, the team travels to the swamps surrounding the town in the hopes of catching a glimpse of the monster.
The might not necessarily see him, but they certainly hear something. Check out what they find in the clip below:...

Countless television shows have proven that the supernatural sells, but so does the unknown. For three seasons now, Cliff Barackman, Ranae Holland, and their team have been looking for evidence of Bigfoot a.k.a. Sasquatch. In Finding Bigfoot, the team investigates tips it is given by embarking on adventures to try and prove that this species does indeed exist. But trying to prove something many believe to be the world’s most elaborate hoax isn’t an easy gig.

With his found-footage horror Willow Creek at FrightFest this month, we spoke to director Bobcat Goldthwait about its Bigfoot premise...
Made popular by the release of The Blair Witch Project, found footage movies slid into an almost totally forgettable category after a slew of disappointing forays into the genre over the past few years. It is difficult to believe that something novel could come out of the genre, but surprisingly, if you team it with an equally well-used subject, namely the decades-old legend of Bigfoot, you might end up with a recipe for a good fright movie.
That’s what Bobcat Goldthwait set out to do with Willow Creek, the “mockumentary” account of a couple’s adventure in the town of Willow Creek and the surrounding wilds that made Bigfoot a household name over 40 years ago with the shooting of the famous Patterson-Gimlin footage.

Bigfoot, the elusive cryptozoological creature who has for so many years evaded capture by not existing, will be the subject of a new cartoon—an actual one, not the grotesque caricature that is Finding Bigfoot. Seth Rogen, his writing partner Evan Goldberg, and American Dad’s Matt McKenna are behind the animated series, which will be based on the graphic novels written by Graham Roumieu. Good morning!
The Arrested Development documentary makers are seeking some finishing funds. I'm sure this will happen in no time.
Annie Clark, Cristine Prosperi and Degrassi producers Linda Schuyler and Stephen Stohn talked with EW and there are a lot of great tidbits about how Fiona wasn't intended to be a lesbian character but evolved into one, and the future of her relationship with Imogen. It's a must-read for Fimogen fans!
Jane Lynch went on Gwissues this week to talk about some upcoming roles. There's never enough of the Lynch.
Author Willa Cather's personal letters are about to be published and it sounds like lesbian rumors might be true. It also appears she was born on the same day as me, so clearly she must be gay. That's how it works.
Out comic artist Nicole Georges wrote about her teenage obsession with Kurt Cobain for NPR.

What are the gayest buildings in America? California Home Design has found them for you.
A new TV network called Esquire will air all episodes of the Jane Lynch series Party Down. I'm ashamed to say I have never watched the show, so I will definitely be tuning in.

Good morning!
Looks like Lifetime has un-canceled Drop Dead Diva, so if you're a fan of that very queer show, rejoice.
Supposedly Rosie O'Donnell is working on a lesbian parenting book and she asked Jodie Foster to contribute but she was turned down. I really just want to know who Jodie is with in that photo.
Bitch magazine has a list of the best lines from a 1968 book about bisexuality. Very interesting.
Out hip-hop duo Kin 4 Life has a sexy new video for their song "Take Your Clothes Off."
Turkey has a new film about their Pflag called My Child. That one is definitely going to make me cry.
A lesbian couple had their photo axed from their high school yearbook. Felicia Rivera and Lialani Hernandez were cuddling in a photo for the Valentine's Day spread and the yearbook staff...

A recording filmed by two men in Pennsylvania perked the interest of the team enough on "Finding Bigfoot" to warrant a trip to the state. The video showed a rather clear image of Bigfoot moving through the woods, similar to the most famous video footage of the creature.
"There are things about that figure that kind of point towards Bigfoot," Cliff Barackman said. "The arms are swinging nice and wide. The leg is bent when the weight is on it, and the trailing leg bends almost 90 degrees at every step."
But it was disappointment for the team after they interviewed the witnesses and tested out some of their explanations. One of the biggest indicators was that during a recreation of the alleged Bigfoot from the video, Bobo Fay turned out to be taller than what the 'Squatch would have been in the video.
In the end, they declared the video a hoax.

Good morning!
Kathy Bates is joining Sarah Paulson and Jessica Lange in the next season of American Horror Story. Say what you want about Ryan Murphy and Glee, but on Ahs he's making all my dreams come true.
This Harvey Nichols ad received several complaints about its explicit lesbian nature after it was on display in a Liverpool department store. But it was deemed non-offensive after The Advertising Standards Authority decided, "Because we considered that it was sufficiently clear that the posters showed one woman about to kiss her mirror image, and because we also considered that they were unlikely to cause serious or widespread offence even if interpreted differently, we concluded that the ads were not offensive, irresponsible or unsuitable for untargeted display because they appeared to portray a lesbian kiss."
Because if it were a lesbian almost-kiss,...

Good morning! I'm so out of whack from traveling across the country to Philadelphia and back over the weekend. But I promise I have a lot of great things to share with you from that experience, so look out for it later today.
One of the people I met at the Lgbt Media conference is Faith Cheltenham, who wrote this rad piece about black bisexual women for The Huffington Post. I've co-opted Faith to write some pieces for AfterEllen, so stay tuned!
Out Ufc fighter Liz Carmouche lost her big fight over the weekend, but she went down with a rainbow mouthpiece. She tweeted that she might be down, but not out.
I gave 100% tonight. Thank you for your support! I shall return. #lizbos

Suze Orman penned an important piece for CNN about how much gay Americans end up paying in taxes.

Good morning! Happy Monday!
A film called Vic and Flo Saw a Bear follows French actresses Pierrette Robitaille and Romane Bohringer as lovers who are also ex-convicts. The drama follows the women as they are released from prison and attempt to live normal lives, despite the presence of parole officers. It won the Alfred Bauer Prize at Berlinale this week, and sounds like it might have a bit of comedy to it, despite being referred to as melodramatic.
On Friday's episode of Portlandia, both Carrie Brownstein and Fred Armisen fall in love with and start dating their roommate, played by Chloe Sevigny. What you really need to know about this is that Carrie and Chloe make out. Thank you, IFC. Thank you.
So apparently Patti Stanger (aka The Millionaire Matchmaker) was once "a lesbian for a year.

Good morning! Did you watch the Grammys last night? Well here are some of the most lesbian photos from the evening.
The only out lesbian winner of the whole affair was Janis Ian, who won for Best Spoken Word album.
Last week Fox News accidentally posted a photo of a lesbian couple's wedding for an article that praised traditional gender roles. Stephanie Fiagrelle was the one mistaken for a man by Fox, and decided to post a response on her Facebook. Here's part of it:
Instead of answering salivating reporters, I’ll post here. Yes, I’m aware that I look like a dude. I have known this my entire life- I’ll prove it by sharing baby photos sometime. I’ve gotten bullied, hit...
