Unaware that he has left Daniels epilepsy medication behind, Adam and Daniel hit the road, swap vehicles with Adam's loving Mama, and head toward the border.
In the morning, Adam's mother is visited by U.S. Marshal Jonathan Wiley who is hot on Adam's trail and will stop at nothing to bring the child home safely. Mama will stop at nothing to protect her son and later alerts him in a call home.
On their way out of the country, they encounter several colorful characters including a loony palm reader, overly-talkative hotel clerk, and of course... the long lost love of Adam's life, Tiffany Stone.
Adam and the boy visit his childhood crush, Tiffany and it is at her home that Daniel suffers from a Grand Mal epileptic seizure. Seemingly fine in the morning, the two buddies hit the last stretch of road headed out of the country, missing U.S. Marshal Wiley by mere moments. Daniel, not feeling well, goes to sleep and Adam keeps heading down the back country roads in search of a brighter future.
When night falls, Adam attempts to wake Daniel and realizes that Daniel is no longer breathing. Stricken with overpowering grief over the young boy's sudden death, Adam realizes that there is no other way to end this journey but to take his own life.
