gasping for air

I am kinda in shock of how this episode turned out. How exactly did Murray die? Everyone is acting more scripted than ever before and Beverly is not her usual annoying self!! GAH!!! What the heavens to mergatrode happened to the show ADAM GOLDBERG??? Very underwhelmed and not so funny anymore, even the shows portrait has MerMan removed!!!! Unsure of why this has happened so "oddly" but give me a break and lead into why Murray is gone and how it happened! Everyone's lines are so scripted and so unreal......when Pops passed you made it a tribute episode; so Murray is still alive hit come one now; you CAN do better and SHOULD!! This is sad on every level......

Stick a fork in her, she's done

Been an avid watcher of the Goldbergs since the beginning. WAS an absolute laugh a minute for years. But sadly.. was.... is all I can say now.

It has been going downhill for many seasons, but this first episode was the nail in the coffin for The Goldbergs. It is not funny anymore. I think I had one half hearted "ha" the entire episode.

And what a terrible way to get rid of Mur-man. They couldn't do better than that? The script is awful and so obvious. There is really nothing left to enjoy here.

Bad script. Bad acting. Dumb hurried plot tropes. She's over.

Thanks for the good times Goldbergs. We are done here.

I am so thankful this show is still one. One of my all-time favorites.

Warning: Spoilers
I have loved this show since the first season. My mom and stepdad used to watch it with me. But it got a bit odd for a couple seasons. So, I watch alone now.

The show is still as interesting and funny as it ever was. I am so excited to see where the characters go as they get older.

It was a good way to exit the character of the father. When they said what happened, it surprised me. I thought they would just take him off.

For those saying the show is not the same without him, I find that interesting. The show is about the kids really. The guy hated being on the show and it would seem as if he did some things that were not great. So, the fact that he is off seems best for everyone involved.

There are some things I find odd.

First, the younger son. He is talking about going away to college. Yet, to me at least, they have him looking like he is a kid. The hair, it reminded me of the first seasons. That seemed strange. Second, the older son. The dude is in med school. Yet he still acts like a kid. Where is the growth? On top of that, he looks a lot different than he ever has. Also, at least in the first episode, his voice sounded nothing like it used too. It was throwing me off for a bit.

The daughter seems to be the only one showing growth.

So, they all come back to the house. They have another grandparent move in. Ok, is it going to be the same stories that it was? That makes no sense to me. One is pregnant, one going to college and one in med school. So maybe throw them into a different scenario. It just made me feel like I was going backwards.

Still, I laughed and enjoyed watching. I will never stop watching this show.

Dead in the water

It's amazing this show is still on the air. Many, many years ago it was funny, but it's been out of ideas forever. It just drags on incessantly, scraping the bottom of the barrel for jokes.

Considering they milked beloved George Segal's actual death for several episodes, going back to the same well with a fake death of Murray (who obviously is gone from the show for very different reasons) is truly desperate. It's a pathetic attempt to get people to care about leaden dialogue and dated storylines. I won't get into the show caving to pressure, but it is funny they had to fire Garlin yet some episodes are all Bev incest jokes. That's apparently okay for a "family" show though.

I saw one review blaming Adam Goldberg (show creator, not the character) for the current quality of the show---well, he's been gone for years. So it's not his fault that the writing and acting are so awful.

One thing is clear from the past two seasons----giving more dialogue to Pop Pop (once-great Judd Hirsch, now barely able to deliver lines), Bill Lewis (Koechner is awful), or Geoff is not the way to save the show.

Another comment said it was good the characters stay the same and don't grow. Well, having aged Barry seemingly in college forever and back living at home, Adam going to NYU but no, back at home, Erica and Geoff married and having a baby and gee, back at home...just zero-effort writing or creativity. The same situations for the 50th time.

At least we have another season of bad acting and mom-son incest jokes to look forward to. The money grab of all money grabs.

Did the writers just give up

Warning: Spoilers
This has to be the worst episode I have ever seen. Murray is dead but we don't find out what he dies from. The plot with Adam and Berry makes no sense. What the show has to build on is the only positive aspect left. Which is Erica and Jeff's baby. Send Adam off to NYU. The show isn't funny or fun anymore. They cannot replace Jeff Garlin or George Segal. The plot of having pop-pop played by Judd Hirsch is an epic fail. The goldbergs just lost to many key cast members and it shows in season 10. What they needed to do was make a spin off that just Focuses on Jeff and Erica getting ready to have there baby.

If I could give Minus I would

Do the writers think we are that thick, that we don't know why Murray is no more? Just bring in a new actor who cares. The actor is finished and taken Larry David with him as Curb seems to be also done for This show is meant to be "based on" actual events, did the father die in real life? NO This is now purely about making money and the actors know that 99.9% of them you will never see again they are that bad.

Should have been ended as soon as Murray was it's now a total con. Did anything real happen in that episode? Crazy as they are mourning over Murray when you think of why he was canned..
