Joe Keats has just come out of heart surgery. As Joe recovers, he notices new desires to take clocks apart, eat kitchen up tuna sandwiches, and to find a woman named Nora. She is the widow of the donor that gave Joe his heart. When he finds her, he starts to take the place of her former husband. Soon, a battle for his sanity takes place, as he starts to realize the pointlessness of life.
