Was released on the internet as an interactive social horror / thriller film in a partnership with Intel and Toshiba. Viewers could guide the main character Christine, played by Emmy Rossum, and help her escape her imprisonment based on the clues she provides the audience via social media.
The entire cast had to create fake Facebook accounts to prepare for the film. Every other character was a real Facebook user who participated in the live experience of deciphering the clues in Christina's bunker to help her escape.
Casting for the social media users who help Christina escape required interested participants to submit video auditions online. The chosen few were included in the final cut. Viewers and participants were able to shape the storyline for Rossum's character by voting on "next step" options. Speaking on this unique filmmaking method, D.J. Caruso said: "Inside is a live entertainment experience, blending film and social media, you can play a part through Facebook, YouTube and Twitter. So, stay connected. There will be many twists and turns, and you can keep up with them in real time."
