The Haunting Force
claudio_carvalho26 March 2017
Olivia is haunted by an energy force that attracts metallic objects and Walter recalls his subject 9 that has the ability for astral projection. They chase the patient Cameron Jones but they conclude he is not the responsible for the energy force. However and Cameron faces the force, something happen.

"Subject 9" is another great episode of "Fringe". Now Peter is back and let's see how he will convince Olivia, Walter, Broyles and Astrid of his existence. My vote is eight.

You Got Me Again

I don't care that I knew way ahead of time who the guy in the water was. We had already seen a drawing of him. The energy that was haunting Walter was a clever method for the crossover that occurs. The thing now is how to get the main characters from their world to absorb Peter. We now have a whole host of questions to deal with and this sets up a fascinating continuation of Season Four. At the top of the list is the original story of Walter crossing over to kidnap a facsimile of his son, to try to save a life, tearing a fabric. What are Peter's motivations as we move forward. Does he have an agenda? I am so excited.

A light switch could be off in the up position, if it is a three-way switch.

When you're Strange, No One Remembers your Name...
XweAponX23 October 2011
Especially when you Drop In to Raiden Lake, Nude, from nowhere.

I need to drop in a little remembrance for Chadwick Boseman, who played "subject nine" in this episode. RIP Chadwick Boseman. he magnificently portrays a grown-up cortexaphan kid who only wanted to be normal, but he could not even use his cortexaphan-powers to do good. What good would Magneto's power be if he could not control that power? There was a similar episode to this where we encounter a Professor-X type, with the same situation. The only difference is that here, subject nine was able to blend in to the fabric of his reality, only if he stayed calm.

At the very beginning of this Ep I knew this energy vortex was Peter-Related. Olivia and Walter were taken on a Macguffin-Ride by Hitchcockian Fringe Writers, and we could care less that it was pretty much predictable. I KNEW this thing was Pete, but I didn't care that I knew. And so, this episode shows us that the Cortexiphan Kids were never collected by the Fringe Team, and if not by Fringe Division, perhaps not by Agents of ZFT.

The original Fringe Universe, is "Fringe Blue", the "Other Side" is "Fringe Red" - And the colour of these episodes, are "Fringe Orange" - Because THIS Fringe 'verse is the "Bridge Universe" - Peter used the machine to create this 'verse where he "never grew to be a man" - And so, we are all, Blue and Red 'verses, still "In The Machine" and Since Peter is still in a way attached to it, then the machine must still be operating.

But what I'm happy about is that this speculation is probably wrong. So now, we have been kicked in the pants once more, Peter's BACK - But now nobody believes he is who he says he is. Cos although Peter is back, the TIMELINE did not revert - Which was what I was expecting, I did not expect this, it's a twist to end all twists.

And this Ep introduced, the first of THIS "Orange-Fringe" timeline, a new Cortexiphan Kid. Introducing Chadwick Boseman. And I dig the stuff this he can do. I hadn't realised just how Neurotic this Walter is without Peter, and could be sent back to the "Horrible Butterscotch Pudding Place", and how much of a big step it was for him to leave the Lab.

Because in the first of this season's eps, we did not notice that Walter was not going to the crime scenes with the Team, and he had made a Gadget for Astrid to wear to be his eyes. We just took it for granted. And then to top it off, the music that Walter listens to in this 'verse, is a lot different than his Yes albums and Al Green albums. This walter likes to listen to 70's Pop songs! How many more things will we find, "That are not like the other?" - I wonder! I Wonder. I look to the stars and wonder- And Fringe helps me think of things to wonder about. So... Each episode leaves me with a "Now What?" feeling.

The countdown to an other mind blowing season has finally begun !
igoatabase15 October 2011
Nine, no Lincoln felt good. I have nothing against Seth Gabel but agent Lee is such an unoriginal character ! Considering Peter's disappearance has affected all of them why didn't they turn him into someone as charismatic as Alexander Mahone or Fox Mulder ?

Eight, time related materials are always welcome. It worked for Lost so it could work for Fringe. Don't get me wrong Walter and Olivia didn't go back in time to save Peter but the first scene featuring her was jaw dropping and proved that season 4 could be in the same vein as the third. Eight, time related materials are always welcome.

Seven, the visual effects were thrilling. In the department Fringe has never disappointed us but the glowing blue plasma was so different than last week's fungus that it seems the show will never stop to amaze us. As for the morphing sequence it was reminiscent of cult films like The Abyss. Magnetic fields are just wonderful !

Six, Walter kicks Neo's ass anytime. His The Matrix inspired technique to catch Peter's image on camera was both funny and inspiring. We should all have such an installation at home to make sure we're not surrounded by optical illusions or ghosts ! As for his relationship with Olivia it was quite moving because even if they aren't family there're moments when we could mistake them for father and daughter.

Five, subplots 99% intertwined with the main story make the best episodes. Subject 9 was no exception and its writing was brilliant enough to shadow what was really going on all along.

Four, the storyline also had an undeniable rewarding factor because elaborating my own theory during the forty something minutes made the ending even more exciting. Do you remember Arnold Schwarzenegger surreal first appearance as Terminator ? What happened wasn't as cult but at least it reminded me of it, something that doesn't happen a lot in a lifetime.

Three, the guest's story was heartbreaking and obviously connected to Subject 13 considering the episode title. It was also the occasion to point out again how scientists can harm people even if their first intentions can be good. This new Walter is really starting to grow on me and the return of some character is promising.

Two, the last second was more than just a cliffhanger. It was one of these moments that leaves you speechless, like a project you worked on for years and never thought you would be able to complete. Fringe ? A oneiric series.

One, only the tip of the iceberg. Existence, quantum entanglement, philosopher's stone, psychometry, viral therapy, ethereal plane, gravitons, time paradox and psychogenesis. These are the topics flying around during the orange title sequence. Does it mean they will all be covered in season 4 ? I don't really know if it was the case for past seasons. But the one thing I'm sure of is that mixing a few of them to the current elements could lead to some stellar scenes involving Twin Olivias, Peter and of course Walternate.

Zero, gravity. My fantasy is to make love with Fauxlivia at the International Space Station and have a British breakfast with her and Walter as a majestic Sun rises behind the Earth. What's yours Subject Ø ?
