It's a Long List
Hitchcoc13 October 2021
When Leonard agrees to go to a party at Will Wheaton's house, Sheldon feels betrayed. Wheaton is on his list of mortal enemies. While this is going on, Howard is given a chance to go to the International Space Station as an astronaut, to test out one of his projects. But Bernadette is having none of it. She is actually quite cruel here.

Bernadette gets protective of Howard on "The Russian Rocket Reaction" ep of "The Big Bang Theory"
tavm19 November 2011
Warning: Spoilers
In this ep of "The Big Bang Theory" from this season: Howard tells everybody he's going up in space. His friends are thrilled...well, except for fiancée Bernadette who has issues of abandonment with memories of her cop father always going on assignment. They later make up but she then tells his mother...who also disapproves. Meanwhile, Sheldon is mad at Leonard for accepting an invitation to attend a party at Evil Wil Wheaton's place. When Amy asks why, Sheldon recounts his teen disappointment at not seeing him at a convention he was scheduled at. I'll stop there and just say this was quite another funny ep of this still mostly excellent comedy show. And get a load of who appears at the end...

Houston, we may have problems...

Warning: Spoilers
Even Amy Farrah Fowler finds Sheldon's dislike of Wil Wheaton rather infantile, not that the ongoing feud wasn't one of the most enjoyable ones on recent television. And while Wheaton seemed to enjoy needling Sheldon in his last appearance and he was willing to go to sinister lengths to beat him at bowling and Mystic Lords of Ka'a (not above playing the dead grandmother card), we see that the feeling is not completely mutual. And in a fitting comic irony, another Star Trek: The Next Generation cast member supplants Wheaton as one of Sheldon's mortal enemy. "Don't worry. It doesn't take up too much of your time." A more curious is this episode is titled after a subplot not alluded to in the CBS trailer, but is worth mentioning as it is the start of things to come. After Bernadette can't dissuade Howard from going into space, she tells his mother on him, leading some more amusing lines from the unseen Mrs. Wolowitz. It was both clever and despicable at the same time. That Penny still finds Howard repulsive is amusing, while Amy more effectively gets her point across, even before having more self-serving motives for supporting the coming Wolowitz-Rostenkowski nuptials.

Bernadette

They really made Bernadette unlikable in this episode. Howard has the opportunity of a lifetime to go to the ISS and Bernadette doesn't want him to go so she goes behind his back and tells his mother.

For this kind of things I stopped watching it

Warning: Spoilers
I find TBBT to be a rather silly and harmless sitcoms, but for a show that's all about "nerds, space and stuff" I find kind of offensive how they ignore factual events to make a joke even at expenses of other cultures and people. Bernadette is afraid of Howard going to the ISS in a Russian rocket claiming it'd be better to go in a Space Shuttle. Oh, yes the vehicle who killed two full crews of 7 people, making it the most dangerous vehicle in the history of human space exploration.

It's not a deal breaker but at some point you may wanna ask "what are you doing man". More so, it's kind of weird because the Space Shuttle was retired around the time this episode aired, nobody said "yeah, too sun"?

Whatever, the rest of the episode is fine I gues..

The Russian Rocket Reaction

Bernadette was annoying here. Not for the first time. Howard was annoying here. Not for the first time.

When Penny asks Bernadette whether she really wants to marry Howard perhaps she was speaking on behalf of the audience, because he never comes across as being the most likable of chaps, does he?

Even Sheldon was on annoying form, dictating what Leonard could or couldn't do. Quite why he doesn't tell him to take a long walk off a short pier sometimes I don't know.

Overall this was a fine but not spectacular episode of a show that has of late and can do better than this.

Brett Spiner's appearance only made me think of a funnier one he made on 'Joey'.
