Brendan Fraser has recalled almost dying while starring in The Mummy.
The actor is continuing his awards campaign with just over a week to go until the Oscars, where he is nominated for Best Actor for his performance in The Whale.
On Tuesday (28 February), Fraser was a guest on The Kelly Clarkson Show, where he discussed shooting a sequence for the 1999 adventure film in which his character, Rick O’Connell, has a rope around his neck.
Fraser said the moment happened after director Stephen Sommers said: “Hey, it doesn’t really look like you’re choking – can you sell it?”
“You only got so far to go,” Fraser said, adding that he was standing on his toes.
However, during the next take, when “the camera swooped around”, Fraser says he “went up on the toes and the guy holding the rope above me pulled” the rope up “a little higher”.

News that Stephen King’s classic It is getting a prequel series on HBO Max has been met with a hilarious reaction from fans of a very different show.
Pennywise – the terrifying clown most recently portrayed in two films by Bill Skarsgard – is set to return to screens in a prequel series on HBO Max.
Welcome To Derry is based on King’s 1986 novel It and will be directed by Andy Muschietti who was behind 2017’s It and 2019’s It: Chapter Two.
The series is set in Derry, which King has called “Maine’s most haunted city”.
Its title, however, has attracted attention from fans of another Derry-set show: Derry Girls.
Fans were dismayed when Lisa McGee’s hit Channel 4 comedy Derry Girls came to an end with its critically acclaimed third season in 2022.
Instead of following the story of a horrifying clown in Maine, Derry Girls takes place in Derry,...

Vernon Kay has spoken out about his excitement ahead of taking over Ken Bruce’s morning slot on Radio 2.
Bruce, who has hosted on BBC radio for 45 years, announced his departure from the network in January.
After much speculation, Kay was revealed as Bruce’s replacement last week.
As a regular cover host on The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show, Kay featured on Monday’s edition (27 February) of the programme to discuss his new role.
“My dad is a lorry driver and I said this when I joined Radio 2 and started standing in for Steve Wright, so we've always had Radio 2 on in the background,” he told Ball.
"It is part of us, it is in our DNA – Ken Bruce is mid-mornings,” Kay continued. “You don't think of any other DJ when you think of that slot.
“Whatever channel you choose to listen to, whoever is on mid-mornings, it's the Ken Bruce slot.

Ooh, it’s a great week for horror fans, as this Tuesday’s Blu-ray and DVD releases are a stellar bunch of films that will make for great additions to your personal collection of movies to enjoy from the comfort of your own home. Because it is the holiday season, I’m stoked to see Scream Factory show a little love to Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2 with their Collector’s Edition Blu that hits shelves tomorrow, and for those of you who enjoy your horror movies with a side of sleaze, William Lustig’s Maniac has been given the 4K treatment by Blue Underground (and the film has never looked better).
The Mangler is also getting a brand new Blu-ray this week, and Scorpion Releasing is resurrecting Death Ship with their new Special Edition release as well. Vinegar Syndrome is keeping busy with both Ice Cream Man and Beware My Brethren,...

Now the British summer has made a belated reappearance, we can expect a few downsides such as hay fever, sunburn and insect bites - but no flying pests in our gardens can rival Dragon Wasps. And a can of the standard repellent probably won't do much good either.
This giant creature feature is written by Mark Atkins. His previous genre outings include numerous hit-inspired 'mockbusters' such as Snakes on a Train, 30,000 Leagues Under The Sea, War of the Worlds 2, Allan Quartermain and the Temple of Skulls, Princess of Mars (an alternative version of John Carter), Battle of Los Angeles and Avh: Alien vs Hunter.
He's also been involved in several dragon-themed productions including Dragonquest, Merlin and the War of the Dragons, and Dragon Crusaders.
Now offering an insect slant on the concept, the cast of Dragon Wasps features Corin Nemec (Stargate Sg-1, Smallville, Supernatural), Dominika Juillet (Dark Angel), Benjamin Easterday...

A. Michael Baldwin, the star of Don Coscarelli’s Phantasm franchise is back in a brand new horror film, Brutal, the first film from writer/director Michael Patrick Stevens which has completed shooting and is now looking for distribution.
Not much is know about Brutal beyond the official press release and behind-the-scenes video below:
Baldwin waited 12 years for the right film to to come along to make his return to the big screen. The whole world sees him as Mike Pearson from “Phantasm”, a very iconic part. Many film makers who grew up as fans have offered him lead roles in their movies but he turned them down. He was never going to return to the film industry and act again, unless he could find another iconic & memorable role, that would separate him from “Phantasm”. That role finally came when he read the script for “Brutal”.
