Good but a slow start to the season
sysgoddess15 February 2024
This was a good episode but the humour was not as sharp as we remember it before its extended hiatus. There were a couple of scenes or situations that elicited snorts and even short rounds of laughter from us but mostly it felt a little slow.

The kids in the show have grown and obviously matured in the nearly 2 years since the previous episode aired. The episode hints at one or more secrets related to Max and his parents that I'm interested in seeing.

The focus appears to have changed somewhat and will hopefully invigorate the series to run for a few more good seasons.

The storylines were interesting and entertaining and we look forward to seeing the rest of the season.

better than all of season 2
Rob-O-Cop16 February 2024
I was expecting the worse for this season 3 opener but it was actually pretty decent. Maybe they learned something from the terrible second season, but they managed to keep it focused on the whole point of the story, the resident alien, the central premise for the story, the main bit, and less of the boring antics of small northern towns and their not that interesting people.

Some interesting developments came, although they weren't massive, I liked that our anti hero was doing day jobbing at an underground base, I liked the grey, not sure what the kids were up to but they didn't come out of the 2 year hiatus well, The show isn't as dead and buried as it looked at the end of season 2, I hope they don't mess it up.

Resident Feminists
barrystoddart17 April 2024
How does a sci-fi comedy show turn into a feminist soap opera? Oh yeh, it's modern day. Let's make it clear, people are only interested in the main lead Alan Tudyk, after all this is his show and when you started watching this show its probably because you were already a fan of his. Somehow though , the writers thought it would be a great idea to have his character constantly bashed down by a bunch of really unlikeable females the biggest of which is D'Arcy. I really can't stand her and she ruins every scene she's in. I've read that the actress that plays her is exactly the same as her character so that's lovely. All any normal person wants in a tv show is a likeable, relatable cast of characters whether they be the protagonist or the antagonist. If the writers etc of a show can't do this then go be an activist and save this stuff for the creative.

May have lost its luster

Warning: Spoilers
It was nice seeing Asta, Judy, Nurse Cho, Ben, and Kate. They're funny and likable. The humor of scenes with the main characters wasn't as sharp as in past seasons. It felt off somehow. The scene of Ben being levitated by a Grey and the scene between Harry and Asta at the end were funny and seemed back to true form. The scene where D'Arcy knocked complex listening equipment to the floor because Harry was keeping tabs on Asta's date with the Grey, when D'Arcy was also doing that, was supposed to be funny, but was just stupid.

The characters of the Sheriff and the Deputy are drawn ham handedly and blatantly trying to serve a social agenda, which is not funny or subtle.

The hopeful news is that Sahar might be leaving the show; so maybe Max can return to being the smart kid he was in the start of season one instead of playing the fool to clumsily sermonize the message that girls are just better at everything.

Another plot of interest is the mysterious machinations of the Greys with Ben and the spooky owl staring through the window. Always enjoy getting glimpses of Native American culture even though, in this episode, there is more clumsy and unclever social messaging. It's easy and uncreative humor.

The writers are trying to be funny while also being in their own heads educational. They're not up to the task of doing both.

Lone Wolf.

Warning: Spoilers
In an attempt to gather information on the Grey aliens, Harry puts Asta in harm's way, in Lone Wolf.

Don't know where this show's at, hardly any humour left and that's pretty much the entirety of what the show is... and the humour left is mild. Like every character was in the episode, without any real purpose, is this a soap opera. Like what's happened to the brash spirit of Max for example, it appears the world has crushed him, the character and the actor playing him. Every time he's on screen for some time now, it's very tiresome. Like they don't want him there and he doesn't want to be there.

Lone Wolf
Prismark1028 April 2024
After a poor second season. I would hesitate to say this is a return to form. At least Lone Wolf started brightly. There is no way I will give season three of Resident Alien the benefit of doubt.

Harry Vanderspeigle has joined the rat race. He is a commuter, a worker now inside General McCallister's deep base. Hunting for the Greys.

One of them is safely embedded in the town of Patience. As Deputy Sheriff Joseph Rainier and he has his own agenda for humanity.

Harry needs to persuade a reluctant Asta to g on a date with Deputy Rainier. Find out more about him.

There was the return of the quirkiness from the first season. Yet I was left thinking that part of it was reheated leftovers.
