One of the items that Animal gives Nora is a baseball diamond. This is a nod to the movie The Great Muppet Caper, where the Muppets help prevent the famous baseball diamond from being stolen.
Lips answers the phone "Mahna Mahna," a reference to one of the Muppets' most famous musical numbers. Lips performed that song when it first debuted on the Muppet Show.
At the hospital, an announcement on the PA system is heard: "Paging Dr. Oznowicz". A similar reference to Frank Oz was used by John Landis in two of his movies: Into the Night (1985) and Coming to America (1988).
One of the names Nora scratches off the list of producers who have turned her down is Linda Perry. Linda is music director for this show.
