The program praises Tanzania's modernization and infrastructure projects (all undertaken by imported Chinese workers, not Tanzania labor) but neglects to mention that the country rolled up a massive $31.4 billion debt to China, which China then erased for other secret considerations, making the country beholden to China for several generations to come. This is happening with developing countries all over the world. Before this, Tanzania was one of the poorest countries on earth.
It is not mentioned, but the slaves were not captured by Arabs or whites, but by rival African tribes, some times from tribal wars but often in raids specifically for selling the victims to the slave traders.
The president says that the Maasai migrated south from the Nile valley in the 1700s. The origins are unknown but there is a tale of a lost Roman legion that vanished in the area some two thousand years ago. Some infer that the Maasai "rungu" club is a descendant of the Roman mace, that the Maasai "semi" short sword is descended from the Roman short sword, and that the traditional clothing worn by Maasai is descended from the Roman toga.
The president refers to the Maasai "bomas". While a boma can contain a number of families that constitute a village, it is actually a reference to the structure and not the community. The structure is comprised of a set of "rondavels" or huts within an enclosure of thorn bushes or dagger bushes which are effective in keeping the predators out at night.
The broad white beaded collars worn by the Maasai women are distinctly non-traditional. The collars are traditionally made from red and blue beads, with the color patterns indicating whether the woman is married or single.
