Sanjay Leela Bhansali's sister Bela Sehgal made her directorial debut in 2012 with the Farah Khan- Boman Irani starrer Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi. After her debut film, Bela Sehgal took some time off to look after her kids.
Now, Bela is ready with a script and will start her next film in 2017. Bela revealed that the untitled film will be a different kind of love story. The film is set to start its pre-production and technical work by the end of 2016. Not much has been revealed about the actors or the plot, but the film will go on floors in 2017.
Bela Sehgal's first film Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi was a romance comedy about a Parsi couple and how they try to get the approval of the Farhad's mother.

From acting in her first film last year in Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi, to recently choreographing the theme song for the T-20 tournament Dil Jumping Zapaak, which was a tribute to singing star Kishore Kumar, Farah Khan is still on the hunt for her heroine for her latest film.

That 2012 began with an overwrought hyper-melodramatic brutal and tumultuous remake of Agneepath and ended with Yash Chopra’s muted mellow all-heart-no-malice ode to romance Jab Tak Hai Jaan seems indicative of the direction that Bollywood seems headed for. The journey, as we can see, is unpredictable and largely exciting. Looking back, some films of 2012 that fetched hype-star ratings seem bloated and over-eager to please either critics or the masses, but never both. Luckily the films that were truly meritorious did get a place under the swoon.

Mumbai, Dec 24: Do explicit movie scenes and double-meaning songs and dialogues incite sexual violence? Many think so. But most directors in the Hindi film industry don't agree.
Director of "The Dirty Picture" Milan Luthria feels that it is not correct to blame films for such rape and related crimes.
"I think it is unfair to make such an allegation about movies and songs. I take great offence. We need to look at our society and culture and how we live. Let's focus on real issues," Luthria told Ians.

Mumbai, Dec 24: Veteran actress Daisy Irani, last seen in Bela Sehgal's "Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi", feels strongly about the Delhi gang-rape case that is making headlines, and says the rapists should be severely punished.
"Nah, that's (killing the rapists) much too quick and simple. I think castration is the only solution for such people who are all over the place. It's the jungle mentality at work. Such savage behaviour can't be curbed by normal modes of punishment," said Daisy.
"Castrate rapists. Let them feel as helpless as the victim each time these rapist go out," she added
Daisy feels women are not safe in.

Coincidences happen, quite often in Bollywood, and sometimes too frequently for comfort! Just recently Farah Khan's Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi released a week prior to her husband Shirish Kunder's Joker. Very seldom does Bollywood attempt a love story of people on the wrong side of forty. Therefore, the promos of Bela Sehgal directed Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi came as a breath of fresh air, promising a funny and heartwarming rom-com of two 40 plus protagonists. Unfortunately, the film could not live up to the promise.
Farhad (Boman Irani) is a 45 year old lingerie salesman who lives with his mother (Daisy Irani) and grandmother (Shammi). His unmarried status is not only the cause of his loneliness but also embarrassment in front of his Parsi family and friends. One fine day, 40 year old Shirin (Farah Khan) walks into his lingerie store and Farhad falls head over heels in love. However the path of true love is never easy, is it?

Using the names from a famous Persian literary love story, director Bela Bhansali Sehgal brings us the acting debut of Farah Khan, a successful choreographer and director in her own right, as Shirin, to Boman Irani’s Farhad in Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi, an offbeat romantic comedy that focuses on two forty-something hapless souls in search of love and a ‘happy-ever-after’.
Farah Khan plays the forty year-old, larger-than-life Parsi Trust Secretary Shirin Fugawala, in search of the man of her dreams. Cupid strikes, albeit late in life, during a lingerie shopping trip where Shirin meets clueless bra and panty salesman Farhad Pastakiya, played superbly by Boman Irani (3 Idiots, Housefull 2, Cocktail). Farhad, a 45-year-old golden-hearted Parsi bachelor, is a total loser in love. The only women in his life are his dominating mother Nargis and over-protective grandmother Siloo. Farah Khan unwittingly lets out that she has done Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi for free. "No money has been discussed. No contract has been drawn up. In fact, after I saw the full film recently, I rushed to a doctor's clinic for a tummy tuck. I looked so fat! At 3pm, the trial ended. At 4pm, I was at the doctor's clinic. And now when he says I've given a brilliant performance in Shirin Farhad... I feel like one of his heroines, right up there with Manisha Koirala, Madhuri Dixit and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. I admit, I love love stories, and from the first time that I saw the trailer of Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi, I thought that this was going to be a cute romantic comedy. However, this not your average filmi romance because instead of young love, this film tells the story of finding your soul mate even when you think it might be to late in life. Shirin and Farhad are two over-forty middle aged Parsi people leading their lives amidst a fast dwindling Parsi community. Self content and enveloped in their daily worldly affairs, they have not had the time to pause and think about love. That is, until they meet each other. New Delhi, Aug 21: Gear up for a fun ride this weekend with distinct comedies like "Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi", "From Sydney With Love" and "Delhi In A Day", all of which are releasing Friday.
None of them are big budget or star-studded offerings, but out of the three, "Shirin Farhad..." is hogging the maximum limelight as it marks the acting debut of choreographer-turned-director Farah Khan.
An unusual romantic-comedy, the story.
