R. I. P. Henry

Storyline:

"Follows Henry Johnsen who starts a secret battle to find a cure for an incurable brain tumor he was diagnosed with, but as he struggles to keep his usual air of superiority, will he be open about his feelings?"

Review/Verdict:

I really enjoyed this series. It might not be for everyone as it is a bit of slow-burner. But, if you stick it out, I am confident you will be glad you did.

Without wanting to give anything away, I will say that it has a subtlety, whilst being ultra human. And it comes with a certain kind of a charm. If you are looking for a bit of something, a bit of everyday mixed with the opposite, something human, with bit of depth, that carries a pretty heavy load overall, but does so, quite lightly...then you will be in for a treat. But...follow through and finish the series.

8.2/10.

Warning: Spoilers
R. I. P Henry is a masterful television series that skillfully interweaves elements of comedy, melancholy, and supernatural mystery. At the core of the show lies the character of Henry, a gifted surgeon who, after experiencing the tragic loss of his wife, has retreated from the world. However, when he discovers a tumor in his brain, Henry embarks on a clandestine journey of self-discovery and healing, transforming not only his own life but also the lives of those around him in the small town of Odda.

What sets R. I. P Henry apart is its brilliant use of the supernatural, with Henry's remarkable ability to communicate with ghosts imbuing the story with an otherworldly sense of mystery. This lends an additional layer of depth to the show's exploration of themes of loss, grief, and the human experience. The exquisite natural beauty of Norway's landscape serves as a breathtakingly serene backdrop, reflecting the characters' internal struggles and creating a contemplative mood.

At the heart of the series lies the truly exceptional performance of its leading actor. Mads Ousdal's captivating portrayal of Henry in R. I. P Henry is striking not only for its subtle grace and emotional depth, but also for the uncanny resemblance he bears to a trio of celebrated actors: Anderword Norton, Kevin Spacey, and Bob Mortimer. His chiseled features and enigmatic gaze evoke the charisma of Norton, the intensity of Spacey, and the whimsy of Mortimer, imbuing his performance with a mesmerizing quality that lingers long after the show has ended. Like a prism refracting light into a spectrum of colors, the actor's uncanny resemblance to these three luminaries adds a layer of intrigue and complexity to his performance, heightening the audience's appreciation for his skill and talent.

Overall, R. I. P Henry is a triumph of storytelling that skillfully combines supernatural elements with poignant themes and powerful performances. It is a must-watch for anyone who seeks thought-provoking and emotionally resonant television drama that leaves a lasting impact on the viewer.
