Cliched action short yet incredibly thrilling and exciting

The short film "Phoenix" doesn't bring anything new to the action/cop genre yet it's presentation is so effective and thrilling that it does not disappoint its viewers at no moment. Well, a slight disappointment that it isn't a feature film since it has so many qualities despite its apparently limited budget. There's action and excitment everywhere and a surprisingly good performance by actor turned politican Alexandre Frota as the lead character.

In it, Frota plays a tough cop who after an operation gone wrong where his partner was shot, must decide how to make his next move to complete his mission and get the bad guys. Problem is: one of the men he saw during this drug bust was a superior of his in the police force. What will he do? Denounce the man, arrest him or kill him, or maybe be part of the corrupt scheme? Many dilemmas and lots of action sequences when things turn against him.

As said, there's excitment everywhere with one sequence better than the other, and it's a real pity that this plot wasn't worked enough to become a potential action flick, and the technical aspects of it all make a very interesting short film that won't leave viewers bored. This is truly impressive and it's a nice suggestion for those who aren't much into short films. This is really special. 9/10.
