Warner Bros. Animation’s “Batwheels”, the new DC Entertainment superhero TV series, starring sentient crime-fighting vehicles alongside DC Comics characters, streams October 18, 2022 on the 'Cartoonito' hub of HBO Max:
“…the ‘Batwheels’ are sentient superpowered crime-fighting vehicles defending ‘Gotham City’ alongside ‘Batman’, ‘Robin’, ‘Batgirl’ and a host of DC superheroes.
“Having just been created by the ‘Batcomputer’, our heroes are essentially kids with little to no life experience. Led by ‘Bam’ (‘The Batmobile’), the Batwheels – ‘Bibi’ (‘The Batgirl Cycle’), ‘Red’ (‘The Redbird’), ‘Jett’ (‘The Batwing’) and ‘Buff’ (‘The Bat Truck’) – must navigate the growing pains of being a newly formed super team as well as the growing pains that come with just being a kid.
“This relatable and aspirational series will follow the journey of this dynamic team as they thrill and entertain with their heroic adventures as well as demonstrate to kids the value of self-confidence, friendship and teamwork…...

Imagine a “Batman” film starring Clint Eastwood driving around Detroit-like Gotham City in a souped up Lincoln Continental. Now imagine it’s a Darren Aronofsky film. As amazing as that sounds, it’s not hard to see why a studio wouldn’t go for it — especially fifteen years ago. When the “Mother!” director heard about the new “Mean Streets” inspired Joker spinoff produced by Martin Scorsese, he couldn’t help but wonder what could have been.
“I think we were basically – whatever it is – 15 years too early. Because I hear the way they’re talking about the Joker movie and that’s exactly – that was my pitch. I was like: we’re going to shoot in East Detroit and East New York. We’re not building Gotham. The Batmobile – I wanted to be a Lincoln Continental with two bus engines in it,” Aronofsky told First Showing. “We were all about...

Before Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice was even a glint in Zack Snyder’s eye, Darren Aronofsky was plotting to make a big screen version of Frank Miller’s Batman: Year One. Over the years, though, we’ve seen many proposed superhero movies fail to make it past the development stages, and sadly, this is one of those.
Although the script was co-written by Miller, the movie would have played fast and loose with the character’s history. It would have seen Bruce made homeless after his parents are killed and taken in by African-American mechanic Little Al (a version of Alfred). Rather than the usual billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne, we would have got a gritty, street-level Batman, who drove around in a souped-up Lincoln Convertible and whose gadgets consisted of throwing acid in people’s faces.
Speaking about what could’ve been a while back, Miller had this...

I’ve got a cool infographic here for you to check out that offers some interesting details on all of the Batmobiles that have been used in the movies over the years. It tells us the speed of each one, what they are worth, and other specs and features that they have.
For example, did you know that the fastest Batmobile ever built was the one used in Batman and Robin? It has a top speed of 350 mph. The infographic comes to us from NetQuote, and they offered up the following details that came along with the infographic. I’ve also included other infographics focusing on other iconic vehicles that we’ve seen in the movies.
Contrary to popular belief, the circa-1966 original Batmobile was not the first of its kind, but it is undoubtedly the most important, according to Aaron Miller at Thrillist.com. “Hollywood legend George Barris was...

Over the years we’ve seen many proposed superhero movies fail to make it past the development stages, and sadly, this is one of those. In a new interview with THR, Miller himself drops tons of details on why this project burned out.
According to Miller, the main problem between the pair was in how they viewed Batman. Most folks would agree that he’s a troubled, unorthodox, crime fighter, but for Miller, Aronofsky took that too far:
“It was the first time I worked on a Batman project with somebody whose vision of Batman was darker than mine. My Batman was too nice for him. We would argue about it, and I’d say, “Batman wouldn’t do that,...

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Adam West starring Batman TV series, one of the most beloved incarnations of the DC character. Lego is celebrating with an amazing looking new set that will have fans and collectors rushing the stores. Come inside for your official, high-res, look at the set!
I need this. Despite the fact that I do my best to keep my toy purchases limited to my Star Wars collection (otherwise there's No room in my house), I can't help but pine for this new Lego set. While eager collectors have spotted this previously, today brings the official confirmation from Lego...and it looks better than any of us could have imagined. Here's what all it comes with:
Help Batman and Robin to drive the villain intruders from the Batcave, featuring a Bat Lab with Batcomputer, plus the Batmobile with stud shooters, Batcopter with flick missiles and the Batcycle.

George Barris, the creator of the amazing 1966 Batmobile and many other legendary whips ... has died. Barris' most famous car was surely the one Adam West drove during the "Batman" TV show. But he has a rich automotive history ... he designed the 'Munsters' Koach, the truck for "The Beverly Hillbillies" and the modified Dodge Charger for "Thunder Alley." The Batmobile sold at auction in 2013 for $4.62 million. Barris died early Thursday. We're told he'd been battling a brain tumor.

The Batmobile for Tim Burton's Batman movies is thundering its way towards Batman: Arkham Knight - and we've just gotten a look at what the vehicle can do.
Developer Rocksteady Studios has released video footage of the car in action, tackling courses based on the two Burton films.
The 1989 Batmobile is longer and thinner than its tank-like counterpart in the game, with lighter handling so corners can be taken with greater ease.
Two course are shown in the clip - the the Joker Parade and the Penguin's lair, which capture the look and feel of Burton's Gothic offerings.
The vintage Batmobile is included in the 1989 Movie Batmobile Pack Dlc, coming to Arkham Knight season pass holders on consoles next week.
There is no word on what the downloadable content is coming to the ill-fated PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight, which has required extensive patching to stamp out the...

The final part of Rocksteady's Arkham trilogy is here, and it features a lot more Batmobile...
I think we can all agree that Batman: Arkham Origins was a bit of a misstep. It was decent, yes, but it did nothing for the series, and the content that what there was simply so-so. This is clearly not lost on original developer, Rocksteady, as the 'trilogy' is now at an end with the latest, and fourth game, Arkham Knight. Origins isn't counted, either due to its prequel status, or the fact is just wasn't as good. Whatever the case may be, here we have the culmination of Rocksteady's Batman vision, and possibly the best entry into the series yet.

The Batmobile is as iconic as Batman himself. First appearing in the pages of Detective Comics #27 in 1939, there has been any number of versions of it in the comic books over the decades, but it has remained a staple of the Caped Crusader’s world regardless of the design. It’s presence has been felt on the big screen too, and everyone has a favourite.
Whether it’s Tim Burton’s impractically shaped Batmobile or Christopher Nolan’s extremely realistic Tumbler though, there hasn’t yet really been a “perfect” take on the iconic vehicle.
That’s where Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice comes in. When Zack Snyder released the first official image on Twitter, fans were quick to point out that it’s stylistically the best version to date, and seeing it in action while the movie was being filmed only seemed to back that argument up.

More details on the teaser trailer launch for "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" have arrived. Indie Revolver has posted a schedule of what will happen starting with the film's first one-sheet going online on Monday at 9am Us-pdt.
Then, an 'Enhanced' version of the trailer will screen in cinemas that night at 7pm. The show will run the trailer twice with director Zack Snyder doing an intro for both times. Then the 'Non-Enhanced' version of the trailer goes online worldwide from 9am Us-pdt on Tuesday.
No-one is quite sure what the difference between the versions will be. There's one small problem though - a bootleg of the complete trailer leaked online earlier today and is popping up on various blogs. Warners is pulling them down fast, but the big question is will this change their plans? I won't link bootlegs here, but here's a review/description of it:

Hot on the heels of a sweet overhead shot of the Millennium Falcon out on the town from the set of Star Wars: Episode VII, we now also have a bunch of shots of another iconic Hollywood vehicle- The Batmobile.
Batman's legendary ride is seeing some action on the set of Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice lately, so it was only a matter of time before photos flooded the net. What's interesting about the design of the vehicle is how it fuses together different design philosophies from Batmobiles past and present. When the initial teases came out, some people speculated it would look like a cross between the Burton Batmobile, and Nolan's Tumbler. It would appear that anyone that thought that was right on the money.

The Batmobile has been spotted on the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice set. Ben Affleck's sleek set of wheels (and relatively dainty in comparison to Christopher Nolan's version in the Dark Knight trilogy) seems to be covered in dust, but the ride is still properly parallel-parked (though backwards in comparison to that silver car). Director Zack Snyder teased the car in May with a tweeted photo of its derrier under a tarp, and included a little bit more of the vehicle — doors closed — in the first photo of Affleck as the DC hero. The followup to 2013's

The first few pages of Frank Miller's script for the shelved Batman: Year One have a disturbed Bruce Wayne waking up from chronic nightmares, some nameless prostitutes being slapped around by their pimp, and Jim Gordon putting a gun in his mouth.
You can see why Warner Bros didn't ultimately go for the project, which was to be helmed by Darren Aronofsky and would have rewritten the Bat mythology even more radically than Miller already had in his comic book arc of the same name.
"Our take was to infuse the Batman franchise with a dose of reality," Aronofsky has said, citing The French Connection and Taxi Driver among his influences. "We tried to ask that eternal question, 'What does it take for a real man to put on tights and fight crime?'" It's an approach not far from the one ultimately taken by Christopher Nolan in Batman Begins,...

Today marks the 25th anniversary of Tim Burton's 1989 film Batman. This movie was so awesome, and I personally think it still holds up today. I watched this movie again a couple months ago and was entertained from beginning to end. It was a true comic book movie. I got a chance to see the movie on opening day at the Chinese Theater in Hollywood. It was actually my first time seeing a movie in the legendary theater, and I still remember the experience of walking in and being wowed by how big it was, and there was a huge Batman symbol projecting on the curtains of the screen. It was a great day, and an amazing movie. Christopher Nolan himself called it "...a brilliant film, visionary and extraordinarily idiosyncratic...".
As a way to pay tribute to the film, I've come up with 10 fun bits of trivia that you might not know about it.

There is a reason I'm a Batman fan. It's not because I'm a life-long comic book reader. That came later. And it's not because I grew up watching reruns of the old ABC television series. Though I certainly did. It's because Tim Burton's "Batman," released in theaters 25 years ago today, was the first movie that really owned my anticipatory faculties as a child. It was the first film that lit my movie-going fire, a designation saved for "Star Wars," "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and "E.T." a generation prior and perhaps "Jurassic Park" and Harrison Ford's actioners a generation later. In the simplest of terms, I wouldn't be a film obsessive if it weren't for "Batman." I owe it that much. For me, the film was an event not to be missed. I remember watching the commercials flood prime time television: the howling of a Batwing circling a Gothic cathedral,...

A lot has been said about Ben Affleck’s casting in Batman vs Superman, as Christian Bale left some big ol’ Batboots to fill. This week, finally, fans got a look at both the new Batman and the new Batmobile, courtesy of director Zack Snyder’s Twitter account. The new suit is designed by Michael Wilkinson – which comes as no real surprise as he was the costume designer for Man of Steel, although he also worked on Watchmen, 300 and Terminator Salvation.
As for the Batmobile, they decided not to go with Hr Giger’s frankly odd design for the vehicle that he cooked up for Batman Forever (seriously worth a Google if you have a minute) and instead went with something whose parts will seem very familiar to comic book and film fans. Ben Affleck's new Batman means a new souped-up car, as every era of the screen franchise redefines itself with fins and firepower
First look at Ben Affleck in Batman v Superman plus his Batmobile

Most comic-book superheroes get about using their special powers; Batman accessorises. That makes him a dream character for production designers, toy manufacturers, and obsessives old enough to ascribe their enthusiasm for a new Batmobile to "an interest in automotive design" rather than, say, some untreated developmental deficiency. And now there's a brand new toy: Zack Snyder, director of the forthcoming Batman v Superman, has just unveiled the latest iteration (along with a new suit, and presumably utility belt, for Ben Affleck).

Yesterday, director Zack Snyder teased a first look at the new Batmobile, and today he gave fans something even better. Here's your first look at Ben Affleck as Batman in "Batman Vs. Superman." It's a canny move on behalf of Warner Bros. to beat the set picture paparazzi by unveiling their new post-Christian Bale Batman before nerds freak out over set pictures taken out of context from blocks and blocks away. And frankly, it doesn't seem too far removed from Christopher Nolan's approach. The Batmobile looks military grade and Bruce Wayne looks broody, though the suit seems to have received a different treatment—something a bit more textured and with a giant-ass logo on it. Frankly, it's a nice tease and not much to complain about here, but we're sure super dorks will find something to cause them consternation. Thoughts? Let us know below. "Batman Vs. Superman" arrives...

After yesterday’s tease, Batman Vs. Superman and Justice League director Zack Snyder has revealed a first look at Ben Affleck fully suited up as the Caped Crusader standing alongside the redesigned Batmobile.
Compared to Chirstopher Nolan’s take on the Batsuit – donned by Christian Bale in The Dark Knight Trilogy – this version is a lot closer to the comic books, and looks like it will fit right in alongside Henry Cavill’s Superman suit from Man of Steel. The next big reveal is of course Wonder Woman.
The Batmobile also looks a lot different to what has come before and very much resembles various iterations of the vehicle which have been seen in the pages of the comic books over the years.
Meanwhile, those fans who doubted that Ben Affleck (who played a superhero way back in the critically panned Daredevil in 2003) may have to eat their words, as...

While many fans have been clamoring (read: begging) for images of the new Batsuit, Zack Snyder whet our appetites today with something a little more intriguing.

Their source sent them in a description of what's going down with the design. It reads like this: "The Batmobile is currently being designed and built by General Motors at the Gm Advanced Design Studio in North Hollywood. This is the same team who most recently designed and built the vehicles for Transformers 4 with Michael Bay, who was very hands-on and involved in the design/building process for the new Bumblebee Camaro. Before Tim Burton’s take on the Dark Knight in 1989′s Batman, the definitive version of the Caped Crusader was the 1966-68 television show staring Adam West as the titular hero, with Burt Ward acting as his sidekick Robin. Along with the best Rogues Gallery ever assembled, this show was the be-all and end-all for kids who loved Batman. The sets were out of this world and the Batmobile is still one of, if not the most, iconic of all the Bat vehicles to ever grace screen or page.
As an adult revisiting the show one can fully appreciate the comedy and farce of the writing, allowing the viewer an even greater respect for the iconic classic. This isn’t Chris Nolan’s Dark Knight series, brooding and thought provoking. This is a campy, rollicking, butt-kicking good time that every Batfan can enjoy.

Once again they nail the look of the characters with awesome detail. I grew up watching reruns of this show, and I loved it! It was just ridiculously fun.
The catchy opening song, campy style costumes, and lighthearted comical scenes have made the Batman 1960s television series a classic among Batman fans. Adam West has become synonymous with the crime fighting hero and the show’s success has even led to a movie being made featuring most of the original TV cast. Hot Toys is excited to introduce the 1/6th scale Batman Collectible Figure from the 1966 feature film. London, Jan 21: Batman's original ride, as used by Adam West and Burt Ward in the classic 1960s TV series, has sold for 4.2million dollars at a Us auction.
The car was bought by Rick Champagne, a logistics company owner from Phoenix, Arizona, the BBC reported.
The 56-year-old, who was just 10 when the high-camp TV series began in 1966, said it was a dream come true.
The Batmobile design was based on a 1955 Lincoln Futura, a concept car built in Italy by the Ford Motor Company.
It was the first time that car had come up for public sale since it was bought in 1965 by car-customiser George Barris, who transformed it.

The Batmobile, a souped-up 1955 Lincoln Futura used in the 1966 series, now has a new owner for the first time in decades. And it most likely does not come with a bumper-to-bumper warranty. Rick Champagne, who owns Champagne Logistics in Tempe, Ariz., paid $4.6 million for the car that has had only one previous owner -- customizer George Barris, who originally created the Batmobile for the television series. Buying television and movie cars can be problematic, because many times multiple cars are used for a single production. That means finding the primary car used in a series or movie can be difficult, if not impossible. Not to mention that multiple cars being in existence can dilute the value of one car purchased. But that wasn't the case for the Batmobile. Only one Futura was ...

Later this month, the original Batmobile will be up for auction. The car, designed and built by George Barris for the 1960s ABC series Batman, is expected to fetch millions of dollars. The Batmobile is not only famous and worth a lot, but also on the verge of revving up some legal noise. At the same time that the original automobile gets auctioned off, Warner Bros. is pushing a challenging lawsuit against a California resident named Mark Towle, who operates Gotham Garage, which specializes in customizing replicas of automobiles featured in various films and TV shows. I will stipulate that The Dark Knight Rises is not necessarily the movie Christopher Nolan set out to make. The tragic death of Heath Ledger derailed his plans to conclude the trilogy with more between Batman and the Joker so he spent the last four years rethinking how he wanted to end his trilogy. What he crafted is a definitive conclusion to his vision of Batman and it is a mostly satisfying film experience. Now out on disc from Warner Home Video, we’re given a chance to re-evaluate it.
Gotham City is a place of corruption, we’ve been told this extensively in Batman Begins and the presence of the Clown Prince of Crime in The Dark Knight reinforces that. As a result, the theme returns in the third installment but with every passing film, Gotham is less and less of a character and more of a stand-in for New York City.

Earlier this week, "The Dark Knight Rises" was released on Blu-ray and DVD with enough special features to fill an entire Batcave. The dust has settled and Christopher Nolan‘s final Batman film The Dark Knight Rises has seen a theatrical release and is now widely available on home video. The Blu-Ray release marks yet another impressive IMAX-shifting ratio presentation that smoothly transitions the film from widescreen to mega-full. Asking whether or not this disc is worth a purchase solely based on the tech-side of things is pointless, because there’s no way WB wasn’t going to make this a blockbuster disc worth a purchase, even for non-Batman fans.

Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins galvanized a new era of comic book, adaptive filmmaking. Taking the cue from Tim Burton’s more humanized Batman, Nolan stripped down the Dark Knight to his core – Bruce Wayne. If you take away the parents, money, costume and gadgets, what do you have left? Who was Bruce Wayne? In Batman Begins, Nolan birthed a spoiled child and raised him into a man. Shunning his wealth and name for the power to strike fear in the heart of evil, Bruce (Christian Bale) began his quest to become the ultimate crime fighting symbol.
Nolan built up Bruce so that we could believe in the legend of Batman. Then, Nolan made Bruce face Batman’s worst enemy and Gotham’s greatest villain – the Joker (Heath Ledger) – The Dark Knight. Although Bruce and Gotham suffered, the Batman was triumphant. Finally, after Batman defeated Gotham’s greatest threat, Nolan...

If any amateur caped crusaders are looking for a seasoned superhero sidekick, then stop by the Barrett-Jackson auction house in Scottsdale, Ariz., in January because the original Batmobile is up for grabs. The iconic car that Adam West drove Burt Ward around in between 1966 and 1968, during the televised adventures of "Batman," is being auctioned off. Although a spokeswoman for the auction house couldn't tell TheWrap what the minimum asking price is, the winning bid is expected to be in the millions. Bringing to an end one of the best and most memorable trilogies of all time, Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises lit up the box office this year, boldly crossing the $1bn. mark to enter that elusive club that has a very small membership.
It’s been by far one of my favourite films of the year, and with the film due out on Blu-ray/DVD in less than a month, Warner Bros. have released the second trailer for its home entertainment release.
One main thing that the release is missing that a lot of people were hoping for is a commentary from Nolan, but that of course won’t change the fact that I’ll be buying it the day it hits the shelves (or, pre-ordering it and hoping it will arrive a few days early).
“”The Dark Knight Rises” is the epic conclusion to filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy.

The east coast edition of Comic-Con is catching up to its San Diego fellow, so you'll need some help knowing what to see

Late last month Warner Bros. released what is arguably their best DC animated adventure in The Dark Knight Returns Part 1, and adaptation of Frank Miller's classic story of the same name. Fans are now eager to see what's in store for them in the consclusion. WB announced today that the first footage from the upcoming release will debut at New York Comic Con, and attached the first still from the film in case you can't wait that long.
