Say what you want about Gotham and its radical reinterpretation of the Batman mythos, but it’s been on a hell of a roll this season. Although it came down to the wire, this writer, for one, thanks his lucky stars that the DC Comics adaptation has been renewed for a fourth season, albeit on a different night.
Now, some of you may ask how a lifelong fan of the Dark Knight could condone such a re-imagining, but the answer is simple: The writing and onscreen performances have been razor sharp. Aside from giving us the Court of Owls for the first time in live action, we’ve witnessed Edward Nygma finally embrace his destiny by becoming the Riddler, Cameron Monaghan return as the brilliant proto-Joker that is Jerome Valeska, as well as Bruce Wayne himself taking his first great strides toward cape and cowl.

Gotham is a bit of a one-trick pony when it comes to character development. On this show, either you die a morally-questionable character or you live long enough to become a straight-up villain. (That's how that quote goes, right?) For Barnes, the latter came to full fruition in Executioner, thanks to a little help from Alice Tetch's blood.
The problem with Gotham trying to sell the Evil Cop plot is that it looks a lot like its Hero Cop plot, i.e. the main character tension of one Jim Gordon. To be fair, the show seems to be aware of how uncomfortably...

Captain Barnes – Barnes opens the episode tracking an individual who had dismembered bodies in the back of a truck. The Captain’s anger is becoming uncontrollable and he is seen attacking the criminal, and eventually, brutally kills him by ripping his head from his body. After realizing his actions, Barnes goes to Arkham to visit Tetch, who can clearly tell that his sister is “in him”. Tetch tells him that he may think he is beating the virus, but in actuality, the virus is beating him.
Barnes continues to track down the plastic surgeon who had connections to the criminal with the dismembered bodies, which leads him to Mario and Lee’s engagement party. He ends up beating the surgeon through a wall, in which he plummets onto the top of a parked car. Barnes has seemed to embrace the rage claiming that he is the judge,...

This wasn't my favorite episode of Gotham ever, which is maybe unfair. It was perfectly competent in its exploration of Barnes' final descent into madness as a result of his exposure to Alice Tetch's blood. It was perfectly competent in its exploration of the complicated relationship that still exists between Lee and Jim. It was even perfectingly competent in the frustrating Ed Gets Vertigo-ed storyline. But it all just felt like things we've seen before on this show. Let's break it down, shall we?

Gotham has been quite a ride so far this season. Not only has it delved into some of its most interesting characters, but each episode has been thrilling in its own right, whether psychologically, physically, or somewhere in-between. Two of Gotham’s most compelling characters, Captain Nathaniel Barnes and Edward Nygma spent this episode on a fascinating psychological journey, which sets up a (mostly) exciting journey to come, especially now that Gordon is back on the force. This week on Gotham: Ed and Isabella have a blossoming romance, but when Isabella puts on her horn-rimmed glasses, Ed becomes scared that he might hurt her. Oswald, ever

Judge, jury, and executioner.
By the end of Gotham Season 3 Episode 8, Barnes had almost completely embraced his dark side and decided Jim was going to be his partner in crime.
While Barnes was the main focus of "Blood Rush," the rest of the hour was odd. Very odd.
We all know Jim wants to clean up the city. It's something he's always wanted. He's even crossed the line at times to get it done.
But, is he really going to fall into line with Barnes' brand of crazy justice?
Sure, Jim shot Galavan and that was a really bad move on his part, but what Barnes did was beyond bad. He brutally ripped someone apart limb from limb. That's just crazy, and it puts him in a completely different category of insane.
I have been waiting anxiously for Barnes to go all dark side, and now he's pretty much embraced it.

In this episode of Gotham, "Mad City: Blood Rush," Barnes fights to maintain control, Gordon returns to work and is immediately thrown into a grisly case and awkward run-ins with his ex, and Penguin convinces Nygma to break up with Isabella.
The formerly squeaky clean, by-the-book Barnes was a dot every "I" and cross every "T" kind of guy, but he's been going through some changes ever since being exposed to Alice Tetch's toxic blood. And his ability to control his anger is diminishing -- not that the criminals on the receiving end of his wrath are people to feel sorry for.

Is this the episode where Barnes finally flips completely to the dark side? There's only one picture to indicate he's falling fast, but will he still be able to control the madness? We're betting he's going to just let go and let the virus engulf him completely. Why fight something you can't beat anyway?
We've been patiently waiting for Mr. High and Mighty to fall, and this may finally be it! We just hope that Gotham gives Barnes (and us) a worthy storyline!
Falcone is throwing an engagement party for Mario and Lee, and she looks stunning in her red dress. But, does anyone else get the feeling there's just something about Mario? We still aren't sure what the bandaid on the back of his neck means from Gotham Season 3 Episode 7, but we're sure it's not good. If it wasn't significant, Gotham wouldn't have focused on it the way they did.

Wondering how all the DC universe TV spin-offs, crossovers and webseries fit together? We have the answer...
In October 2012, Us network The CW launched the first season of Arrow, after wrapping up no fewer than ten seasons of Superman origin show Smallville a year before. Arrow was a completely new take on the DC Comics character Green Arrow, in a new universe that had nothing to do with Smallville or its version of Oliver Queen/Green Arrow. The series proved quite the hit for The CW, and a second season renewal inevitably followed. In season two, we were introduced to forensic scientist Barry Allen, better known to DC Comics readers as The Flash. Arrow got a third season, The Flash got his own TV show with great success, and the live action shared DC Comics universe on TV was born. And with it the question: how does it all fit together?...

Nobody Can Cool is the rather impressive directorial debut from up-and-coming filmmaking duo Dpyx, Marcy Boyle and Rachel Holzman, who crafted a blisteringly taut and thoughtful indie crime thriller with a palpable sense of tension from start to finish.
