- A snow-covered landscape shows mountains in the distance. Western Classical music pieces play. The narrator discusses the composers and shares his thoughts about life prior to his leaving for his army assignment in Tajikistan.
- This episode is about the time before the narrator leaves Russia to go on an army assignment in Afghanistan. It begins by showing a landscape of flat country covered with snow. The only things visible are a row of trees and a lake or other body of water behind them. There is a row of low mountains in the distance. There is very little movement in the video. The audio is mostly Western Classical music playing and sparse commentary by the narrator. The narrator states that this is a piece by Wolfgang Mozart, describes his physical appearance and some tragic events in his life leading up to his death. There are periods where minutes go by between his comments. A flock of small birds fly across the landscape. The narrator announces that we are about to hear a piece by Olivier Messiaen, a modern French composer and describes the piece. A small figure walks across the landscape. The sun rises in the background, then fades from view as a small fire begins in the treeline. Low clouds begin to move across the sky. The music changes to another Western Classical music piece that the narrator states is by Beethoven and makes some comparisons between Mozart and Beethoven. There is a slight, short fade into a closeup of a blonde man in his 20s sleeping and then it returns to the landscape scene. The narrator makes philosophical statements about life. The last musical piece starts with the narrator stating that this is the Second Movement of Mozart's 23rd Piano Concerto. It ends with a short fade in and out of the sleeping man shown previously.
