- TriviaWhile discussing tipping in England, Effie asks Crabtree if a shilling is more or less than a farthing. Crabtree replies that he doesn't think anyone knows. Actually, there is actually a significant difference between the coins that virtually anyone in England at the time would recognize. A farthing was only worth one quarter of a British penny, while a shilling was worth 12 pence, so it took 48 farthings to make one shilling.

Goofs and anachronisms
Thankfully, we have followed Murdoch and all the outstanding cast members from episode 1 right up to "Honeymoon in Hampshire". The writers who dream up their stories, combining historical characters and kind of spoofing ideas, products, theories etc, (that today we know to be au courant)- make all the programs so interesting and riveting, until the final outcomes. Men and women who have graced the world's history and given us so much in so many genres, make all the episodes instantly interesting. As for the "caption" of this note, Goofs and Anachronisms, in one of the comments looking at this particular episode, the inclusion of the carbon monoxide not acting as it actually does, was noted. I think an anachronism also occurred. Early in the story, there was a mention of one of the characters "having just arrived from Thunder Bay". Thunder Bay is where I live. Our city was formed in 1960, amalgamating the then 2 separate cities of Fort William and Port Arthur. I believe Murdoch episodes occur, presently, in the early 1900's. Oooops!😀😀😀
