This year’s Blood List has named the 13 best genre scripts around town, and in its sixth year the annual screenplay contest is expanding its scope to include hot books, TV pilots, and young scribes ripe for signing. Taking top honors in 2014 is sci-fi thriller Bird Box from The Thing and Final Destination 5 scribe Eric Heisserer, an apocalyptic tale of a woman trying to lead her children to safety – all three blindfolded – after monsters descend on earth that turn people insane on sight. Universal set Heisserer to adapt the manuscript from Josh Malerman in 2013 for Mama helmer Andy Muschietti. Previous Blood List alumni include Black Swan, Stoker, Warm Bodies, and the upcoming Blumhouse thriller The Boy Next Door.
Like the Black List naming the top unproduced screenplays circulating around Hollywood, the genre-focused Blood List taps exec votes to determine each year’s best unmade horror, sci-fi, and thriller scripts.

Cologne, Germany - Tiny Iceland may not have fully recovered from the global fiscal collapse, but the local box office is bouncing back, with ticket revenue inching up 2.7 percent to $8.1 million (Isk 1.5 billion) last year. While Hollywood titles -- led by Sam Mendes' Skyfall -- topped the local charts, homegrown films, including Oskar Thor Axelsson’s Black’s Game and Baltasar Kormakur’s true-life survival tale The Deep, helped Icelandic films secure a respectable 10.5 percent of the national box office last year. Editor's Note: Hey, ya'll! Currently on vacation but couldn't possibly forget about Degrassi! The recap is from both parts 1 and 2, and next week will resume night-by-night shenanigans. Plus, we talked to Sam Earle all about his departure from the show. Look for it all in finale week!
Imogen is working really hard on her set design for Romeo and Jules, and the weirdest thing you should know about this is that Imogen has a dad who's just as high on pixie dust as she is. And a dog, but he seems fine. Bad news is, unless Imogen can get someone to sponsor the play, she's not getting her big dream set. Munro Chambers Has Spoken! Credits!
Black-Haired Katie is screeching Alanis Morissette's "You Oughta Know" for no real reasons, so thank God Jake is there to interrupt that with some talk about greenery. Chemistry!
Jenna and Becky are inexplicably still friends or something,...
