They talk about everything
ericstevenson7 January 2022
I'm surprised this has its own IMDb article. TEDTalks is a series of an incalculable number of YouTube videos were people just talk about important things in front of a crowd. It's just a person talking to an audience. The official YouTube channel has 175,129 videos in it! This website only lists 233 listings. This series is amazing because you get so many perspectives. Its biggest strength might be how it talks about anything you would ever want to talk about.

Obviously, you are going to disagree with some things featured. You can instead simply find a video that agrees with you. While that may seem shallow, you can certainly agree with it. These people are usually quite intellectual. It is not to be confused with the channel simply titled "TED" with only 3,798 videos. I don't even know the criteria for appearing in these videos.

It seems like anyone can appear in them. I think my favorite is "Why I, as a black man., attend KKK rallies". They are usually messages of hope and how to live. You can literally spend eternity watching all of these videos. They even have TEDtalks "about" TEDTalks! These range from 10 to 35 minutes, so start anytime you want! ****

Hating what TED became

Used to be thick-skinned strong people enlightening us. Now it's just weak kids who take offense to anything minimal.

Buzzwords worth spreading
criticalorangutan28 December 2023
There are a few interesting talks, but the vast majority of speakers just use a lot of fancy words and have very little actual substance. There's also a great deal of cargo cult science that is promoted. Many speakers seem to be on there mainly to promote their own book.

When you take into account that attendees must pay exorbitant prizes to attend (apparently in the thousands), it really puts it into perspective just how little value is offered for their money.

The whole conference reeks of a self-congratulatory elitist echo chamber - a gallery of trendy buzzwords that when all pieced together apparently comprise a cocktail of wisdom (in reality, more of an open sewer). Many of the talks outright come across as if they were written by A. I. Overall, TED represents an obese haystack of faux intellectualism dashed with a scant few needles of worth. You're better off listening to kindergarteners do presentations on frogs. At least you'd probably learn something.
