- Detective Joss Carter: Detective Szymanski. It's good to see you back on active duty.
- Detective Bill Szymanski: You know, I thought about dying but realized I couldn't afford it on a detective's salary.
- John Reese: Earlier, what did you mean when you said "bad code"?
- Harold Finch: It means a flawed design. The term applies to machines, not people. We have the ability to change, evolve.
- John Reese: Even killers.
- Detective Joss Carter: Szymanski's got a dragnet out for your hit man. I suggest you steer clear for a while.
- John Reese: Well, that's gonna be a little difficult.
- Detective Joss Carter: Don't tell me you're with him.
- John Reese: Okay I won't, but I still need your help.
- John Reese: Are you saying we should protect Annie but not Riley?
- Harold Finch: I'm just saying you might not want to put yourself and her at risk for a man like that. He's a killer, Mr. Reese.
- John Reese: So was I, Finch.
- Harold Finch: I think there's a distinction to be made.
- John Reese: Not as much as you think.
- Harold Finch: How did you know? You reconsidering your decision to protect Riley?
- John Reese: No, just thinking that I should grab a new shirt.
- Harold Finch: He shot you, John.
- John Reese: It wasn't personal.
- Harold Finch: Annie was very careful not to leave any clues as to her and Riley's meeting place, but... maybe there is one. Her laptop wallpaper is a view of the city from a photo she took.
- John Reese: Okay.
- Harold Finch: By measuring the alignment and relative size of the key buildings in the photo, I was able to determine the geographical coordinates of the spot where it was taken, approximately 50 feet above sea level.
- John Reese: Great, now does any of that voodoo produce an address?
- Harold Finch: 460 Eckford. And it's trigonometry.
- Riley Cavanaugh: [Hiding from a police car] What now?
- John Reese: We consider our options.
- [Riley takes out his gun]
- John Reese: Shooting a cop isn't one of them.
- John Reese: Hello, detective.
- Detective Joss Carter: No, no, not until I've had my morning coffee.
- John Reese: You can take it with you.
- Detective Joss Carter: Take it where?
- John Reese: I'm sending you the location.
- Detective Joss Carter: Why? What's there?
- John Reese: A body.
- George Massey: What happened to Sean was tragic, but he's the one who's made his bed with the Russians, not me.
- Annie Delaney: I thought he worked for you, George.
- George Massey: Yeah, but his debts were his own. He was a degenerate gambler, and it got him killed. You had better learn to accept that, Annie.
- Annie Delaney: I do. But I also remember that Sean was the sweetest guy in the world until the day he started working for you. So degenerate or not, I'll always miss him. I wonder who's gonna miss you when you're gone, George?
- John Reese: Good to know the Irish mob's still alive and kicking.
- Harold Finch: I suppose if the city's going to have organized criminals, they should at least be diverse.
- Harold Finch: Riley Cavanaugh. No living family and no education passed high school. The only job he seems to have held is driving a truck for a company owned by Massey. He appears to have been an associate of Massey for several years.
- John Reese: What kind of an associate?
- Harold Finch: The kind that gets the attention of the machine.
- Detective Joss Carter: What you got?
- Detective Bill Szymanski: It's a car wreck. The deceased is Eddie Massey.
- Detective Joss Carter: Not good. I hear his dad's got a temper. Eddie had much to drink?
- Detective Bill Szymanski: Under the influence, yes, but not alcohol.
- [Points to bullet wounds on the body]
- Detective Bill Szymanski: Hollow points. Two in the side, close range.
- Detective Joss Carter: Well, his weapon's still holstered. The shooter must have taken him by surprise. His passenger?
- Detective Bill Szymanski: Sounds right, airbag deployed. Only goes off if someone's riding shotgun. Or in this case, .38 caliber.
- George Massey: [On the phone] You didn't know I knew about your stash or the fact that you were sticking it to Sean's old lady?
- Riley Cavanaugh: What do you want?
- George Massey: How about my son back.
- Riley Cavanaugh: I'm sorry, George but Eddie did not leave me a choice.
- George Massey: Well, you can apologize to him yourself in a moment or two.
- Carl Elias: So, I'm afraid you have me at a disadvantage. Mr Crane, is it? You obviously know something about me, while I know nothing you.
- Harold Finch: The man I work with saved the life someone close to you... a Charlie Burton.
- Carl Elias: So you're the boss. I suppose I should thank you for saving my life, as well as my current accommodations.
- Harold Finch: I trust you're keeping yourself busy, Mr. Elias. Certainly your control of the city's criminal enterprises appears undiminished.
- Carl Elias: Well, being stripped of all possessions eliminates a lot of distractions. I have time to read, to think, to play chess. Although, you know, finding a worthy opponent has been a little challenging.
- Carl Elias: Relics like Massey, they never learn. There is so much more to be gain by staying out of the limelight in the background. Those are the people you have to watch for.
