Teen Choice Awards 2012 (2012 TV Special) User Reviews

Occasionally pretty weak, but not a complete disappointment

The title "Teen Choice Awards 2012" is pretty self-explanatory as this television event from 2012 honored the finest in showbusiness from the standpoint of teenagers. It runs for 2 hours, including commercials, and slightly under 90 without. It was hosted by singer Demi Lovato and the wheelchair boy actor from Glee and honestly they weren't good, but they were also not as bad as I feared they would be. But the winners honestly were most of them. There were some solid nominees, but really this event was a prime example of why perhaps the people should not always determine stuff by vote. Almost all the victors were a mess and the moment the hosts got their surf boards, was rock-bottom. I am sure this show was a lot more scripted and staged than they showed us, but never mind. The good news is that it still has to offer the essential contents of an award show, namely the winners being presented or at least shown and that's something you cannot say about the majority of award shows these days, especially those about music. What else? Oh yes, it was kinda ironic how they said they cannot show all the awards on air and this was right after a random music performance, but hey the teenagers in the audience want to be entertained I guess. Still I am worried about their heroes at that point (2012) and I don't think things have gotten better since then. Oh well, now I sound like a grandpa. Anyway, good for them if they had a funtime here during this show, but I cannot say I really did, so I have to give this one a thumbs-down. Maybe I'm happy Emma Stone triumphed twice, but it's certainly difficult to find pros and good moments from the entire show. So even I as an award show lover cannot give a positive recommendation here. Watch something else instead.
