Jackson Schultz : Jackson. What's your name?
Mercedes Salinas : Mercedes.
Jackson Schultz : [waitress comes over] Can I buy you a drink?
Mercedes Salinas : [takes charge] I'll have a Mexican margarita, Sally.
[She moves closer to Jackson]
Mercedes Salinas : So, where are you from?
John Morrison : [interjects] We're from Austin.
Jackson Schultz : Yeah we're here doing some work at the community college.
Mercedes Salinas : Cruising for college girls?
Jackson Schultz : [smiles] Not exactly. We're updating their VOIP suite.
Mercedes Salinas : [quizzically] IP suite?
Jackson Schultz : You can go ahead and forget that. It's geek speak, I'm sorry.

Jackson Schultz : [seeing Mercedes being strong armed by Chato] Let her go.
Mercedes Salinas : Stay out of this.
Chato : Who's this chapete? Get the fuck out of here gringo.
Juan : [noticing that Jackson is carrying a guitar case] You gonna play us some music white boy?
Mota : Hey, you a long way from home Malibu

Jackson Schultz : [looks at Chato] I said let her go.

Mercedes Salinas : [Mercedes eyes scan the sheets of fashion sketches as she shuffles through them] I always wanted to be a fashion designer. When I was younger, you know, I would mix this thing with that. I would drive my mother and my family crazy with my "fashion shows".
Jackson Schultz : Why not fashion then?
Mercedes Salinas : I'm just a girl from this small town. Who's gonna want to wear my stuff?
Jackson Schultz : How do you know if you never try?
Mercedes Salinas : [She smiles. Then comes over and sits beside Jackson on the bed. She looks over at her guitar leaning against the wall] You see that guitar right there. My father gave it to me. About the only thing he left me.
[She looks to Jackson]
Mercedes Salinas : Play me something.

Mrs. Salinas : When are you going to get it together and find a better job?
[Mercedes rolls her eyes, she's heard it all before]
Mrs. Salinas : You need to be a better mother and start thinking about your daughter.
Mercedes Salinas : That's what I'm doing. That's why I work at that place. So, I can make the money for her to be in that school.
Mrs. Salinas : Who is this guy? Where did you meet him... at the club?
Mercedes Salinas : Yes. It's not like that. Mom, you see him, he's in there reading to Melissa. He's a good guy.
Mrs. Salinas : [coming over to sit next Mercedes on the couch] Why do you always do this? You meet these guys. What makes you think he's different?
Mercedes Salinas : Well. He's not from this town. He's not in a gang...
Mrs. Salinas : But he's going to hurt you. All men do. They lie and they take, take till there's nothing left. And then they leave.
Mercedes Salinas : Ma, just because father left
[beat]
Mercedes Salinas : doesn't make every man like him

Mrs. Salinas : What if he comes back? What am I supposed to tell him?
Mercedes Salinas : [With Melissa in tow, she turns back before she leaves] Tell him I've left.
[beat]
Mercedes Salinas : Tell him I never want to see him again.

Mercedes Salinas : [seeing how tired and run down the guys are] Look, I'll break my rule this one time and give you guys a lift.
John Morrison : Oh, you're an angel. Woohoo!
[quickly climbs into the back seat]
Mercedes Salinas : [to Jackson] Besides, the last thing I need on my conscience is knowing some cholo wildcat popped a cap in you.
Jackson Schultz : Thanks.
Mercedes Salinas : Come on.
