As this episode opens a woman calls the police to say that an intruder is in her house; the call is ending in a way that suggests she is being attacked. When the police get to her flat they have difficulty getting in; the door is heavily reinforced and the windows are covered in metal shutters; once in they find the woman dead but not sign of any intruder or any indication of how he got in. After a forensic search it is determined that the intruder had been in the flat several times before and entered using a copy of the key. While they are there a delivery man drops off a book
and takes an interest in Borowski's deputy, Sarah Brandt. A second apparently different case begins when the young son of a heroin addict goes missing; viewers know it isn't unconnected as we've seen the creepy delivery man sneaking around her flat befriending her son. After questioning the mother she is sent home and into real danger. The killer has also started to look into Brandt making it look as if she could be another victim. Away from the case Brandt has a fit in front of Borowski putting her position in the police in Jeopardy as Borowski thinks the condition makes her a potential liability. Borowski also has a house guest when his boss turns up after his wife kicked him out of his home after catching him with a prostitute!
This was another solid episode; the central story is gripping; the identity of the killer might not be a mystery but the way he operates gives the episode plenty of tension with scenes that wouldn't feel out of place in some horror movies but without showing the violent murders. This is particularly true when he gets close to Brandt even if some aspects are a little unlikely; I can't imagine it would be easy to sneak in and out of the police station's custody area the way he did. It was good to see that Brandt's medical condition has become known, if only to Borowski, as it could have dragged if it had gone on much longer with only the viewer knowing. The cast does a solid job; Axel Milberg and Sibel Kekilli are great as Borowski and Brandt and Lars Eidinger is suitably creepy as the killer.
