The 35th edition of the Clermont Ferrand International Short Film Festival will commemorate 100 years of Indian cinema with ‘Namaste India’, a sub – section that will screen 41 Indian shorts.
The sub-section that falls under Panorama section aims to offer “a broader historical and cultural overview of this giant country’s (India) film production.” For this festival has made a varied selection, keeping in mind the cultural and geographical diversity in the country. An inclusive list that includes works from film students to independent film makers on a variety of themes like the city, the country, native and religious communities, prostitution, theatre, tradition, borders, poverty, etc.
Out of these, five shorts will be part of a Retrospective of Umesh Kulkarni, who is also on the International Jury of the festival. His shorts: Darshan, Girni, Three of Us, Gaarud and Vilay will be screened at the festival.

Kaushal Oza’s Afterglow has won the Best Short Film Award at the 11th Third Eye Asian Film Festival. The film maker won a trophy with a cash prize of Rs 50,000.
The jury headed by Sanskar Desai awarded a Special Mention to Iranian film Manner by Mehadi Aghojani and Japanese film My Father’s Mistress by Kousuke Sakoda. The festival was held from 6th to 13th December, 2012.

While his widow is coming to terms with the loss, she also has to face the relatives and friends who come to share her grief or offer mock sympathy. The film won the Best Indian Film award at 10th Kalpanirjhar International Short Fiction Film Festival.

Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs of Wasseypur I will open the 12th edition of the River to River Florence Indian Film Festival, while its sequel Gangs of Wasseypur II will be the closing film of the festival. A documentary on the life and career of Amitabh Bachchan, Everlasting Light by Ram Madhvani, will be screened during the festival. Bachchan will also be present for a Q&A session post the screening of his film Black.
Besides film screening, the festival will also host interactive sessions on topics like, ‘Shakti: Women in Indian cinema and literature’ and ‘Bollywood and the expression of emotions in today’s India’.
The festival will run from 7th to 13th December in Florence followed by an edition in Rome from 14th to 16th December 2012.
