A deep and encompassing documentary on drugs
guisreis25 October 2022
Very deep, encompassing and well informed documentary on drugs. It addresses the (5 or 6 thousand-year) history of drugs, their different types and usages, their health problems and benefits, the moral ideology, the social element that impacts policies, scientific findings and censorship against them, prohibition, war on drugs, the schemes in either foreign or domestic politics allowed by global repression against drug dealing, mass incarceration, real causes of violence chain. Aesthetically the film is not so successful, as it is not only very simple but also has some cheesy choices. Little narration moments in the beginning are not very inspired or smart either. However, numerous interviews are no less than fantastic, what makes this film to be one of the best productions on drugs I have watched so far.

lucid debate
cebolamaria27 March 2021
I have read criticism about this movie, saying it's not impartial, because it criticizes prohibiton and War on Drugs model, and the promise was to promote a debate. One side of the question is already extensively given, so this documentary shows only the other side. Psychiatrists, social scientists, specialists in public health and security, policiticians, all come to share new ideas on how to deal with drug use, abuse and social questions related to it. It discusses the problem of drug traffic and violence, related to the problem of poverty and favelas in Brazil, where the movie was produced. Mainly in Rio.

Interesting take on the question (and, surprise, I personally don't do drugs).
