- Following the bread crumbs, Olivia collects a truck with cargo from a scrap yard but runs into bounty hunters. Peter, with newly gained powers, has to make a decision.
- With Peter obsessively stalking Capt. Windmark and manipulating his future, Olivia sets out alone to fetch the next needed item to defeat the Observers - a scrapyard-strength electromagnet. As Walter and Astrid study the behavior of another Observer brain implant to determine what's happening to Peter, Peter learns a lesson from Windmark himself.—statmanjeff
- Peter is plotting a scheme to kill Captain Windmark. However Etta's apartment is compromised and he needs to flee. Meanwhile Olivia contacts Anil to get an Observer's device to give to Walter to study the effect in Peter. Walter realizes that after a short period, the changes will be permanent. When Walter retrieves another video tape, they learn that they need to retrieve an electromagnet and Olivia decides to go alone. She goes to a junkyard where there is a truck with the electromagnet waiting for her. Then she begins the dangerous journey back to Boston. Later she meets Peter and tells that Etta is alive in their memories expecting to convince him to remove the implant.—Claudio Carvalho, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
- Olivia waits in a car and notices workers peeling down the "Resist" pictures of Etta. Anil joins her. He brings her a piece of the same tech Peter implanted in himself for Walter to study. He gives her more ammo and offers whatever help she needs.
Peter the almost-Observer makes notes on his board at the apartment, following timelines. Windmark and another Observer step out of thin air into the hallway and walk to the apartment. Peter doesn't appear to be inside, but they inspect his timeline foretelling Windmark's movements. Peter has gained the ability to "run futures."
The timeline ends at 5:42 "You Are Here." The clock reads 5:42p.
Peter waits across the street.
Formerly Harvard University Astrid and Walter watch tape 8, directing them to a scrap yard in Fitchburg. Tape Walter tells them to get an industrial-sized magnet, the kind used in auto-junking.
Olivia joins them. She tells them what Peter did and what he can do.
Walter needs to see how the tech interacts with a brain. He has a brain preserved in formaldehyde.
Peter calls from New York to warn them Etta's apartment has been compromised. He ignores Walter's pleas to come back to the lab.
"Trust me when I tell you, I am in complete control," Peter says impassively. Walter reminds Peter of the promise he made to keep him in check.
Olivia needs something to do and decides to go after the magnet alone.
In New York, Peter sees Windmark passing a café before it happens. Peter walks past, taking a cup of tea and placing it on the edge of a garbage can that Windmark will pass.
A man's bag knocks it onto Windmark's shoes and the man stops to mop it up. Windmark is stopped at the light at a crosswalk. Peter checks his watch.
Olivia drives to the scrap yard and sees a little girl running around. She talks to Carlos, telling him she would like to barter for a magnet. He's surprised and tells her to wait.
Inside, Carlos tells Simone (Jill Scott) that a woman outside is asking for a magnet. Simone recognizes Olivia. "Send them now," she tells Carlos.
Outside, Olivia starts to get nervous as the people in the scrap yard eye her. Simone introduces herself, they've been expecting Olivia.
"I've been waiting many years for someone to come for that magnet," Simone says.
Inside, she shows Olivia a truck she says has belonged to Olivia for 21 years. Simone mentions a man coming to talk to her mother and saying he had a way to save the world. Before she died, she made Simone promise to hang onto the magnet. Simone sent for diesel fuel. She knows Olivia doesn't mind waiting.
She sees things about people, like that Olivia has a bullet in her pocket.
In the lab, Walter is not optimistic about the odds of the preserved brain working. He's not sure how to attach the tech, but it flies out of his hands and into the brain stem. They see a lot of activity along the cerebral cortex, which controls higher reasoning. Extrapolating the data, they see that the cerebral cortex becomes so thick it overrides the area used to control emotions. "It's worse than I feared," Walter says.
Simone worries about the lateness of the people she sent for diesel.
Olivia talks to the little girl, Darby. The other people said Olivia was on Reward Wire, there's a bounty on her. Simone brings her water and Olivia is suspicious.
She sees other people approaching her and pulls her gun on Simone. Simone takes a sip of the water and tells Olivia she has no faith.
Simone tells Olivia she's free to leave in her car anytime. Simone knows Olivia lost her daughter -- twice.
Someone signals the fuel has arrived.
In NYC, Peter anticipates Windmark, watching from a warehouse. Suddenly Windmark appears behind Peter. He knows Peter has been making adjustments and he has been making his own.
He says he knows Peter made him miss the light at the crosswalk. "Everything has taken place as I intended," Windmark says.
Peter phases in and out, attacking Windmark. Windmark gains the upper hand but Peter phases out and ends up behind him, pummeling him. Windmark slips free again, grabbing Peter's head and taunting him about Etta dying. "Your emotions make you weak," Windmark says.
He pulls a knife on Peter, but Peter gets free. He anticipates the appearance of the other Observer behind him and blocks his knife attack, deflecting the stab so it hits his shoulder. Then Peter phases out so he's behind the Observer and he stabs him. Windmark is left alone.
He phases out onto the street and looks around.
Peter and his split open forehead walk away.
Back at the junk yard, Simone tries to encourage Olivia not to lose hope. Olivia tells Simone her gift is an anomaly, just like her telekinesis is an anomaly. Olivia knows too much to have faith. "It's all just numbers and the invaders are just better at math than we are," Olivia says.
She gets in the truck with the magnet and leaves.
Back in the lab, Peter appears with a split head and a shoulder wound. He's not in any pain.
As Walter stitches him up, he tells Peter the technology is reshaping his brain.
Peter knows what's going on but says there's nothing to be afraid of, given the potential he's tapping into. Walter warns him that before long, he won't be able to reverse it.
Peter plans to shift Windmark's future so that he passes through the square at 7:19 p.m., resetting him on the correct path to avenge Etta.
Walter says the plan on the tapes is the way to fight. Peter says he has to go.
Olivia drives the magnet back to the city. She calls Anil for a place to store it but runs into two burned out cars blocking her path on the back roads.
She stops and gets out to inspect a woman lying in the road. She gets close enough to see it's a doll. It's a trap.
Two men disarm and scan her, identifying her as a fugitive. She tries to fight back, but they knock her out.
Olivia comes to in captivity in a garage warehouse and hears the two men deciding what to do with her. One of them calls Reward Wire and asks to meet at a Truth Church where the Observers can't scan him. He gives them Olivia's name. Olivia looks for a way to get free and saws her ropes on a giant drill bit.
A loyalist reports the call about Olivia to Windmark, who agrees to the terms. Olivia's captor makes plans to meet them in an hour.
In the other room, Olivia breaks through her bonds. She's surrounded by heavy machinery and cranks open the pressure valve on one.
Back in NYC, Peter snips the wiring on a fuse box for the elevator. Windmark pushes the button for an elevator, but it does not come. He takes the stairs.
Olivia goes the full MacGyver, pouring gas on a rag, hooking a hose to the compressor and taking her bullet off her necklace. She puts it in the pipe and lights the rag.
Her captor goes into the other room when he sees smoke. She flips the switch on the pressure gauge and it shoots the bullet slug through the pipe and into the man's forehead.
The other captor goes to see what's happening but Olivia gets behind him with a gun. When he goes for his gun, she shoots him dead. Olivia stops to get the bullet slug out of the door.
Olivia takes Walter's call, but tells him she's fine. He tells her Peter was there, but left, even after Walter told him his brain was being altered. Olivia asks where he is.
Peter watches a square at night in the rain. Olivia joins him. He tells her that in a few minutes Windmark will pass the fountain and be back on the trajectory that leads to his death.
At 5:12 tomorrow afternoon, Peter will meet him face to face and at 5:13 Peter will snap his neck and at 5:14p he will take his last breath.
Peter tells Olivia that Windmark showed him Etta's last thoughts -- they were of them that day in the park. He doesn't want to remove the tech until tomorrow. Olivia tells him Etta is alive inside of them and her bullet saved her life today.
"Emotion is our weakness," Peter says. "No, Peter it's our strength, because it's the one thing they do not have," Olivia says. As Olivia pleads with him to hold onto Etta, he watches Windmark pass the fountain.
"I'm not going to lose you again," Olivia tells him. She says she loves him and a million scenes of their life together pass before his eyes.
He takes out a knife and digs into his neck. He grabs ahold of the tech and yanks it out. Olivia takes it and gives him Etta's bullet.
