A man suddenly enters a pub and shoots himself in the head in front of the young owner. Initially the girl tries to resume her life normally, but she behaves strangely and family life is disrupted. Encouraged by her husband, the young woman agrees to be treated by a psychiatrist, who helps her to come to terms with her trauma and to remember everything about the tragic event. However, the recovered memories are short-lived and the young woman remains prey to recursive amnesia. A second psychiatrist takes over from the first and the therapy takes a new direction.
