I'd love to see a restored set of Hayakawa's outstanding horror cinema!

This darkly engrossing, immaculately made, quite literally heart-wrenching J-Horror classic opens anxiously with an excitable group of schoolgirls exchanging scary stories. Based on, Kazuo Umezu's book 'The Horror', Hikari Hayakawa's cult S. O. V chiller still has much to recommend it to rabid J-Horror fans. The text is quality, wherein the dramatic elements are certainly no less compelling than the bravura interludes of visceral gore! Two good friends innocently make an earnest, yet ill-fated pledge, if one became terminally ill, the other would gladly offer them their heart! Needless to say, when this uncomfortably stark reality gruesomely manifests itself for real, Hayakawa's macabre mini-shocker thrillingly lives up to its moniker! Stylishly compact, and beautifully stylized, this pulse pounding Evil Heart remains a terminally arresting V-Cinema creepshow! I find it quite extraordinary just how much exciting incident Hayakawa packs into 'Evil Heart's modest running time, and I'd love to see a restored set of Hayakawa's outstanding horror cinema!
