Been there done that

I have watched over 50 documentaries in the last few years and I have to say I really did not connect with this. From the beginning the lads highlighted that even though they were not black they connected with rappers in the states who sang about living in the ghetto like they did. I saw shots of a few withered buildings but these guys were living in 2 story homes and nothing close to what I have seen of people living in the projects or Section 8 housing. They mildly spoke about experimenting with drugs when they were 15 but there were no shots of people doing or buying drugs most of the time it was clips of quiet streets with no background or in depth of the drug use, crime, poverty or corruption for that matter. They went on for 10 minutes about the main character getting a tattoo on his neck and it highlighted his love for his grandfather but there was no background story on his grandfather, what he meant to the lad and what the tattoo did for him? I felt the film tried too hard to paint these kids as bad boys with tattoos, smoking weed and not showing up to court but then they would turn around and talk about how people should live life and stay out of trouble so I really can't say I was inspired nor did I feel sorry for these guys. Last but not least, I did not think their music was any good at all. I know they are young and just getting started out but all they were doing at best was ripping beats off of other rappers and even then it was not harmonic whatsoever.
