It is astounding the number of reviews that think that Mock the Week doesn't have scripted jokes and also that think that this is a game show where points matter? Weird things to mark it down on!
Whilst some of the comedians I don't find particularly funny, there is enough variety to find something you like in every lineup. You're obviously not going to like every style and you might not like certain rounds of the show, but that's kind of the point of these things. Something for everyone.
The British comedians always do well and their experience shows (especially in rounds where they have to mash up a celebrity name with something like "a food" - the Americans seem to forget that these still need to be funny and not just "these words fit together"). I personally feel like the Brits carried the first few episodes and I wouldn't have continued watching if they weren't on the show, but some of the others won me around, especially when they engage in a bit lf the banter.
As a Brit, there are some comedians I hadn't seen before, or had seen very little of, but was pleasantly surprised by a few of the choices. I would have liked to have seen a few more people given a shot though. The seemed to rotate like a cast, which means that by the end there wasn't a single person on the panel that hadn't been on a previous episode.
Overall, I would say this show does a decent job of adapting the pure joke side of Mock the Week and I hope it continues. It can only get better as more people become familiar with the show.
