In 1973, this film (made especially for tourists visiting Fisherman's Wharf) played at Ghirardelli Square at the "San Francisco Experience Theater". A few months later it was moved to the Cannery Cinema, where it played for a couple of years. Finally it was shown at a small theater located at Pier 39.
Cinematographer Robert W. Cameron was blind in one eye when he photographed his series of "Above" city coffee table books and this, his only film. By the time he died in 2009, he was completely blind.
This film is in the permanent film collections of the University of California, The Museum of Modern Art in New York, and the Paris Cinematheque.
The film was based on the successful coffee table book by Robert W. Cameron (1911-2009).
