We've got a fun new promo spot for you to watch for DC's upcoming film Shazam! The spot shows off a bit of new footage from the film for you to enjoy that highlights a couple of little DC Easter eggs for Batman and Superman.
I've also included a couple new photos from the film from Preview Magazine. They include a cover graced by Shazam! and a new photo of Mark Strong as Doctor Sivana and as you'll see he's glowing with power. When previously talking about Sivana's powers, director David Sandberg explained:
"And it’s not just him, really, it’s … something else … that lent him his powers … he can do some things that Shazam can’t. The danger in some films is the bad guy has the same powers as the good guy. [Sivana] has an extra thing, extra dynamic, that takes care of that….”

Some new information has come to light regarding DC's Shazam! and the story that it will tell. These details go beyond what we learned from the synopsis that was released and what we saw in the trailer. This new info comes from director David F. Sandberg, and he reveals one of the quests that Billy Batson is embarking on.
During an interview with Cb, Sandberg explains that he is looking for his family. He's trying to find his mom who he thought was dead.
"He’s trying to find his family. His mom is still out there. But once he gets these powers, he’s just trying to figure out what to do with them and how it works. For that he needs his friend Freddie, who is like a superhero expert, who helps him to discover his powers and how to be a superhero."
It makes complete sense...

Piers Morgan Tells Us America’s Most Dangerous Serial Killers Inspired ‘Nothing But Loathing’ in Him
In Oxygen’s newest true-crime show, “Serial Killer With Piers Morgan,” the famed TV personality sits in a giant, cleared out room in a prison, just two feet away from America’s most dangerous serial killers, with only one guard watching over them from the other side of the room.
“It’s pretty intimidating, I can’t pretend otherwise. Lorenzo Gilyard, the ‘Kansas City Strangler,’ strangled at least 12 people and he’s just sitting two feet away, there’s only one guard standing at the other end of the room,” Morgan, who almost bumped knees with the murderers as he interviewed them, told TheWrap. “These are the most dangerous criminals imaginable and on one level, you think, surely nothing will happen, but at the other point, he has nothing to lose. It’s an intimidating dynamic and you have to keep your wits about it. But you gotta watch it because before you go in,...

Finally! Warner Bros. has released the first official photo from Shazam! featuring Zachary Levi in costume. Standing next to Shazam in the photo is Jack Dylan Grazer, who plays Billy's best friend Freddy Freeman in the film.
When coming up with the costume design for the film, director David Sandberg (Lights Out) took elements from throughout the character’s appearances in comics and animated shows. He tells EW:
"I wanted to keep the shorter cape as a throwback to the original because that’s something that sets him apart from Superman or Batman. It makes him feel a bit more Golden Age superhero, which is the vibe I’m going for."

Shazam! has added a great new cast member! According to EW, Djimon Hounsou was quietly cast in the role of the 3,000-year-old sorcerer who ends up giving young Billy Batson his powers in the story so that he can magically transform into a fully adult-size superhero.
In the comics, The Wizard is an ancient being and the last surviving member of a council of wizards who must find a champion to battle the evil Black Adam.
This Is Us actor Ron Cephas Jones was previously reported as getting this role, but due to scheduling conflicts, he wasn't able to do it. Hounsou is a talented actor and it's good to see him take on the role. He'll be great in the film!

Thanks to Zackary Levi, we have our first official look at a promo banner from director David S. Sandberg. This banner gives us our best look yet at what Shazam's costume will actually look like in the film after it goes through the post production-process and it looks cool! There's definitely a lot more texture to it and a design to the costume that we weren't seeing in the set photos that we've previously posted.
Now that you see what the costume will actually look like in the movie, what do you think? I wonder when Warner Bros. will actually give us a proper high resolution image of Shazam!?
This! This is what dreams are made of. Complete and total wish fulfillment, plus a beverage!

Last week we got our first look at Zachary Levi's costume in DC Entertainment's Shazam! It gave us a look at the back of the costume, but today a new set photo has surfaced showing us the front of the costume. It pretty much looks like exactly what I imagined it would look like! It's the Shazam! costume! I think the costume design is great and I can't wait to see it in action!
I'm sure that that the costume will look even better once it goes through the whole post-production process. I'm surprised that after the first leak, Warner Bros. didn't just release an official photo of the title character because it doesn't look like these set photos are going to stop. They should release an official image and just get it out of the way. It'd be better than these set photos!

After director David S. Sandberg teased the inspiration for the costume Zachary Levi will be wearing in Shazam! We may actually have our first look at the actor in costume and he looks like... Shazam! When previously talking about the suit, the director said:
"The suit has some similarities to his look in Justice League: War. Once pics have been released I can tell you more about where the inspirations came from and why certain choices were made."
The photo below, which comes from Batman-News, gives us a look at the actor from behind, but it still offers us a decent look at the full costume. It has a very cartoon-style feel to it, which is honestly exactly what I was hoping for! I was afraid the costume would have that same style that we've seen in the other DC films, but I felt that style wouldn't work for Shazam.

Shazam! The supernatural DC character is on its way to becoming a feature film! Come inside for more!
David F. Sandburg and the rest of the Shazam! cast and crew are gearing up to film the next movie in the Dceu. While the film is supposed to be set in Philadelphia, Pa, the team will be filming primarily in Toronto, which is pretty normal for most films. What's not familiar is the synopsis for Billy Batson (Asher Angel) and his God-like counterpart, Shazam!.
We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—Shazam!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself...

Director David F. Sandberg has officially started shooting Shazam!, and along with the announcement we got an official plot summary along with a full cast list. It was also revealed that Dwayne Johnson, who will be playing Black Adam in his own solo film, has been added as an executive producer. It makes sense because the two characters will eventually come face to face in the Dceu. Here's the synopsis:

Production is underway on New Line Cinema’s “Shazam!” David F. Sandberg (“Annabelle: Creation”) directs the origin story, which stars Zachary Levi (TV’s “Chuck”) as the titular DC Super Hero, along with Asher Angel (TV’s “Andi Mack”) as Billy Batson, and Mark Strong (the “Kingsman” movies) in the role of Super-Villain Dr. Thaddeus Sivana. Peter Safran (upcoming “Aquaman,” “The Conjuring” and “Annabelle” films) serves as the film’s producer.

Hey, we all want someone to blame when something goes awry. And at this time every year, consumers of TV are quick to carp that their favorite scripted show — be it Limitless, The Family or Game of Silence — got cancelled “because of reality-tv.” The numbers, however, indicate that unscripted fare is no longer TV’s go-to filler, and thus no longer a proper scapegoat.

Say goodbye to ABC's all-Shonda Thursday lineup — at least until midseason. Kerry Washington's pregnancy has delayed (and shortened) the next season of Scandal, which means the schedule ABC announced today will be the first in a few years featuring a show not produced by Shonda Rhimes airing on that night in the fall. In this case, it's Notorious with Piper Perabo, one of two new ABC legal dramas whose descriptions in the press release includes the word "sexy," just in case we weren't clear on the branding. On the whole, ABC's schedule has many more changes, and more new shows, than either the NBC schedule or Fox schedule announced earlier in upfront week. Among the shifts: with Castle done for, ABC will have a new post-Dancing with the Stars drama — Conviction with Hayley Atwell (the other "sexy" legal show) — for the first time in years; Agents of Shield...

Beating accusations of a Friday Afternoon News Dump by a few hours, ABC confirmed a Good News/Bad News proposition this morning. Which would you like first? Fine. We're cockeyed optimists here, so we'll go "good news" first. "Forever" has been given a full-season order by ABC, which picked up a back-nine for the immortality-fueled procedural, which stars Ioan Gruffudd, Alana de la Garza and Judd Hirsch. In live ratings, "Forever" had a so-so start, but has struggled lately drawing audiences hovering a bit under 5 million viewers. DVR figures have been better, with Live+7 figures bringing "Forever" to nearly 8.8 million viewers and a 2.2 rating among adults 18-49 through its opening month. Mostly though, what "Forever" has had in its favor is a cursed time period on Tuesdays at 10 p.m. Last season, that hour was responsible for the season's first cancellation in "Lucky 7" and for midseason failures "Killer Women" and "Mind Games.

Michael Trucco has been cast as Abby Whelan’s abusive ex-husband on ABC’s hit Washington, D.C. drama Scandal.

Trucco has landed the part of Charles Putney on Scandal, who beat Abby (Darby Stanchfield) when they were still married years prior, breaking her jaw and a number of ribs, reported Entertainment Weekly. Olivia (Kerry Washington) ultimately took matters into her own hands and attacked him with a tire iron.
As of yet, it hasn’t been revealed exactly what brings Charles to Washington.
Trucco is likely best known for starring as Ensign Samuel Anders on Battlestar Galactica and Justin Patrick in Fairly Legal. I started a Tuesday Ratings Analysis piece yesterday afternoon, but then a problem arose. See, I dedicated the entire intro to the dire ratings for "Utopia" and its negative pull on Fox's Tuesday comedies and the necessity to finally give up on "Utopia" and shuffle lineup positions. My solution was the one I've given a couple times before: Shift struggling Wednesday drama "Red Band Society," with its young female core and nothing else, to Tuesdays where it could at least bring those viewers to "New Girl." Put "MasterChef Junior" on Wednesdays either before or after "Hell's Kitchen" and just make it a Gordon Ramsay night. Let "Utopia" continue on Fridays and just plug your nose and look away. Of course, as I reached the half-way point in the post, Fox announced that "MasterChef Junior" would move to Tuesdays and "Utopia" will remain on Fridays, where the network can plug its nose and look away.

The early Live+3 DVR numbers for Tuesday, September 23 are largely about ameliorating the Live+Sd numbers for a couple shows that looked like minor disappointments and being reminded that when it comes to DVR numbers, the rich often get richer. When it comes to the rich getting richer, the premiere of "NCIS" added nearly 3.3 million viewers and went from 18.23 million in Live+Same Day to 21.52 million in Live+3 Day, also picking up a full ratings point among adults 18-49 to end up with a 3.9 rating in the key demographic. Also growing from an already high position was the series launch of "NCIS: New Orleans," which added 2.82 million viewers to reach 20.05 million in Live+3. The 18-49 DVR growth for "NCIS: New Orleans" was an unremarkable 28 percent, but that just meant it ended up with a 3.2 rating in the key demo, as well as a 4.7 rating in CBS' coveted 25-54 demo. But...

I dunno about you, but I'm already getting disturbed by the fact that we're two days into the 2014-2015 season and we're largely disaster-free. Ok. That's not exactly true. Fox's Tuesday is a disaster. Yes, "Utopia" gets a bigger DVR bump that most reality shows. That's a dud. And yes, "The Mindy Project" will get a nice DVR bump and it's a really good show at this point, but those numbers aren't acceptable. I'll let "New Girl" skate by for a while, just because it isn't Fox's biggest problem. But leaving Fox's Tuesday aside... No disasters. Tuesday's big new premiere was "NCIS: New Orleans" and it drew a massive audience, one that it's hard to imagine any new show topping over the next couple weeks. And Tuesday's other premiere was ABC's "Forever," which didn't do fantastically, but when the bar was set by "Lucky 7," "Mind Games" and "Killer Women" last season.

With a show as loaded with lazy cop tropes as "The Mysteries of Laura," it's tempting to bust out a few TV critic clichés in kind. Maybe I could suggest that the series — whose promos all suggest that the chief mystery is how in the world a woman could possibly be both a cop and a mom(*) at the same time — is in the running for the best new fall show of 1984. (*) Linda Holmes of NPR has dubbed the show "CopMom, MomCop," and her catchy alternate theme song is probably a better critique of the show than the one you're reading here. But that would be unfair to 1984, whose best new fall show was "The Cosby Show." More importantly, that season led to the first Outstanding Drama Series Emmy win for "Cagney & Lacey," a cop show that dealt with all sorts of questions about the life of a female police...
