Sex & Nudity

  • Throughout the series characters are seen in bed together naked (no nudity is shown). There is many kissing scenes or just sexual scenes leading up to sex.
  • One of the main characters gets a temporary sketch of a tattoo on her back, which is a drawing of her own face. She explains to her boyfriend that "This way no matter how they do it, they'll be making eye contact." (She doesn't end up getting the tattoo however)

Violence & Gore

  • There is occasional violence in the show, mostly done for comedic reasons. Most of the scenes are in season one, such as a character hitting another character with a car (by accident), or a character tackling another character.

Profanity

  • Mild swearing. Ass,damn,hell, bastard,bitch and drug and sexual references

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Throughout the series characters are shown using bongs and just getting high in general.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • When one of the main characters of the series is introduce, she admits to having attempted suicide. This is never discussed much in the series or put in detail.

Violence & Gore

  • In one episode a character reveals she was raped 15 years ago when she was high. Later this causes her to have a breakdown (the apartment is messed up and she's crying on the floor).
  • A character explains that her mother committed suicide. It's never shown but described. This is mentioned multiple times throughout the series.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • The whole series is based around characters who have alcohol and drug addictions. Some of the characters relapse throughout the series, which can be upsetting to some viewers.
  • In one season a character is seen smoking in multiple episodes, eventually she quits.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • A character has a miscarriage. Because of this she lashes out at her friend she was previously arguing with, claiming her friend had been "Wishing for that to happen because her friend didn't want her to have the baby in the first place." The characters make up by the end of the episode but watching them fight while also dealing with the miscarriage can be very upsetting.
  • A young girl (Nineteen years old) overdoses and dies (it is not shown, only talked about). She had been a good friend of the main characters and was in multiple episodes. This is one of the saddest scenes in the series.
  • The boyfriend of the young girl who overdosed shows up at the girls' AA meeting. He had been there when his girlfriend overdosed and ran away after calling 911. One of the characters screams at him as he storms off, telling him to "Run away, like you did when she was dying!" This scene is incredibly tense and upsetting.
  • One of the main characters meets with her mother, who had abandoned her at a fire station when she was little after promising to come back for her when she had more money. It's revealed that the mom moved in with a guy, but the guy didn't want kids around, so she left her daughter on purpose to ensure her own happiness.
  • During a therapy session, the main character of the series; mother reveals that the main character was abused brutally by her ex, even stating that he had sent her to the ER twice. This scene is very tense and upsetting, especially because the main character had been keeping this a secret and it was revealed against her wishes.
