This wasn't great. Very much a mid/late episode in the series filler outing, and one that relied very much on the excellence of the cast to drag it over the line.
I'm sorry to say that 'Call the Midwife' has looked a bit tired at times in its twelfth series, and there have been a couple of rather forgettable episodes, as well as variations on plotlines we've seen before.
Here's hoping it can find its spark consistently again as we move towards the end of the series.
But if we get to Trixie's wedding and there's no reappearance of Cynthia, Chummy or Jenny then the show has gone past the point of believability.
