Happy Endings

The series ended perfectly, a bit rushed, but perfect!!! Yet, there could be so much more. I would love to see this series continued! I hope the producers will consider another season or a special movie in the future. There were some characters whose story could be continued! The lives of Charlotte and Alexander and Georgiana and Otis could be followed more into their futures. These characters became so familiar and it would've so nice to have them with us for a bit longer. I will start watching again, beginning with Season one and I will have to be satisfied with that for the time being. I highly recommend this series.

A perfect ending to the story! (so far :) )

As we neared this episode I was feeling sad as it was all coming to an end. It has been over 3 years since our Charlotte Heywood left Sanditon. And this episode was a fitting end to this trilogy. The pacing of the episode was perfect. Everything got wrapped up beautifully. Of course I would have liked some more time together for certain characters, but that is because they are written so well.

There were several stunning shots of the beach and other scenes that were spectacular. This season in particular has given us a feast for our eyes.

I loved how this show wrapped everything up,because it was not just about getting the different couples together, but there was a HEA for the whole community of Sanditon. This show is special because of the community that it has created, which makes it that much more difficult to say goodbye.

I would love to see this show continued, at some point!

Thank you Sanditon team (especially our heroines Rose Williams and Crystal Clarke), Masterpiece, PBS, ITV, and Red Planet Pictures!

Happily Ever After

Since its initial season, Sanditon has occupied a special place in my heart and mind. As disappointing as the first season's ending was, I understand the production difficulties which occurred. When Seasons 2 & 3 finally arrived, it was completely captivating. I've watched all the episodes multiple times and continue watching them now. I've seen the many rationales for why it won't continue and why it should. I'm here to plead for more Sanditon whether in the form of a spin-off, film, or even more episodes. I believe there's so much potential for continuing the Sanditon story whether through a continuation of Charlotte/Xander, Georgiana, or any of the other characters (past or current) in the series. I know the thousands of viewers want more, especially details of Charlotte and Alexander's life together. This was such a unique, extraordinary production. It cries out for more, especially now in these anxiety-filled times in which we live.

Rushed ending

Warning: Spoilers
I was disappointed with how rushed everything felt. It was scene by scene a "wrapping up" of sorts but overall, things just weren't very clear or believable.

I thought it was a bit silly how everything was resolved so easily. It was a bit silly to have Mrs Parker literally on death's door one day and the next attending the wedding.

Also, it would have been better if they actually showed or properly wrapped up some storylines instead of giving us that strange wedding scene where Charlotte walks past everyone in slow motion giving us only hints of where their story goes. I for one would have loved to see more character growth in Augusta Markham learning from her experience, or a proper proposal between the doctor and the reverend's sister.

Still an enjoyable series, but definitely a rushed ending.

Contrivances Galore

Warning: Spoilers
Everything is neatly tied up with a big red bow. Don't know where to start as there were so many contrivances. From Mary becoming ill and on death's doorstep to being able to attend a wedding practically the next day. And the weddings happened so fast with no planning.

What happened to Esther? We're never told. Why take her out of the picture but leave her dasterdly brother Edward? I much preferred Esther.

The ending (after the caption 'one year later') with Charlotte as teacher of the completed school and Colbourne minding their apparent child (when did she even conceive this child?) was all very nice, but I didn't know men were so forward thinking in the early 19th century.

And Edward becoming a clergyman - really? I thought Lady Denham was supposed to be smart. At least she declined marrying the odious Mr. Pryce (who went from being a greedy ogre to a lovestruck fool).

This final season smacked of revisionist writing. I'm all for inclusivity, but I don't think feminism was too popular in the upper classes.

All in all, I'm glad the series has ended. Please, no more.

S2 and Series3 stunning in how far they fail
dwalker-8823710 August 2023
What's worse? Killing off the Austen Hero, turning Austen heroine into the type of woman Austen Herself detested: weak, morally damaged, and a reputation ruined by multiple men (at best Austen would make such a character the b or c character definitely no longer a heroine). I imagine the worst is in the writers telling the audience Charlotte's best hope for happiness is the boss that took what he wanted then turned her out? Same for the other female "leads" their future happiness depends on men who caused them great harm.

If it were possible I would give S2/S3 zero stars.

RPP, Masterpiece PBS, ITV should be utterly ashamed such a misogynistic approach to an Austen work.
