This is by far the best film from filmmaker/actor Wolf Morrison. Known for his funny versions of Trash Films here is his first serious film, an homage to the works of David Lynch.
He himself gives a solid performance: first he is the womanizer, who meets the lovely girl Julie in a bar and takes her home after saving her from being beaten by the bar owner, but he also understands her feelings of being lost in the city. After her death he becomes the sensitive one, who misses his big love and finally the one who takes his revenge.
But it is lead actress Julia Prock-Schauer who steals almost every scene. She is the shy, sensitive Julie that Scott fell in love with and she is also her sexy twin sister Karen, a femme fatal who seduces Scott just to put him down on the next day. Her performance is just outstanding!
And, of course, every good film has a great villain and Seth Raven as Mr. Househover is excellent is his role. There is one fine scene, when Scott enters his place to take his revenge and Househover just laughs at him.
Sonja Grenz as Petra, who tries to help Scott (they once had a relationship)and Astrid Vineyard as Stacy, the reporter who found Scott's lost tapes complete this excellent cast.
"Lost in Vienna, Austria" is so much more than just a simple revenge- story. There are some really great filmed surreal nightmare sequences in it and especially when Scott, Petra or Stacy look at some lost video footage the viewer is never sure if what he sees is real or just a video.
A story somewhere between Film Noir, Mystery Thriller and Drama with a beautiful cinematography, cool edits and an excellent Soundtrack between classical score, Jazz and Singer/Songwriter stuff and not to forget the fine performances from the actresses and actors make this film to something special. This is pure Cinemagic!
