An unbearable extreme climate, a high level of citizen insecurity that makes going out into the street a high-risk action, or a pollution rate that borders on health limits. This is the case of Chernobyl, one of the destinations addressed in the program, whose percentage of radiation level currently reaches 24%. In short, places that nobody dreams of going on vacation and that, nevertheless, a group of Spaniards have made their home. We will learn about their day to day in an environment marked by complications and we will understand what drives them to live there.

If in the beginning the drug traffickers in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, settled pending accounts with other sides without affecting the population in general, at present it is common for shootings to take place in public places and indiscriminately reach those who are in the streets, hospitals, businesses, bars, restaurants and even churches. The violence there is blamed on the drug war that has escalated in the past three years since kingpin Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán sent his hitmen to wrest control of the Juárez cartel from Vicente Carrillo Fuentes. Meanwhile, in Mexico, the Sinaloa, Golfo, Zetas, Tijuana, Juárez and La Familia Michoacana cartels are vying for power, according to the Federal Anti-Drug Agency (DEA). Furthermore, in Ciudad Juárez there is talk of another cartel called "La Línea de Juárez". The border is a particularly important area for cartels where drugs move north and weapons move south. According to the US Department of State, 90 percent of the cocaine destined for the United States arrives through Mexico from South America and it is estimated that 60 percent of the drugs are smuggled through some 350 kilometers in the border between New Mexico and Texas. In addition, the United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms estimates that some 300,000 weapons are illegally exported to Mexico each year.

The Ring of Fire, also referred to as the Circum-Pacific Belt, is a path along the Pacific Ocean characterized by active volcanoes and frequent earthquakes. Its length is approximately 40,000 kilometers (24,900 miles). It traces boundaries between several tectonic plates-including the Pacific, Juan de Fuca, Cocos, Indian-Australian, Nazca, North American, and Philippine Plates. Seventy-five percent of Earth's volcanoes-more than 450 volcanoes-are located along the Ring of Fire. Ninety percent of Earth's earthquakes occur along its path, including the planet's most violent and dramatic seismic events. The abundance of volcanoes and earthquakes along the Ring of Fire is caused by the amount of movement of tectonic plates in the area. Along much of the Ring of Fire, plates overlap at convergent boundaries called subduction zones. That is, the plate that is underneath is pushed down, or subducted, by the plate above. As rock is subducted, it melts and becomes magma. The abundance of magma so near to Earth's surface gives rise to conditions ripe for volcanic activity. A significant exception is the border between the Pacific and North American Plates. This stretch of the Ring of Fire is a transform boundary, where plates move sideways past one another. This type of boundary generates a large number of earthquakes as tension in Earth's crust builds up and is released.

One of the most impressive places in the north of Chile is San Pedro de Atacama. Not only do its landscapes look like they're on another planet, but also its soil, which is used by scientists to simulate the experience of stepping on Mars. The wind flow, the ocean currents and the surrounding mountains are some of the factors which create these fascinating and unique conditions.
