The narrative of the film takes place in three time planes - during World War II, where we will learn the fate of young Edelman: a hospital messenger, a member of the ZOB command, the last leader of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising; in the 1960s, when his medical career was developing in Lódz, and finally in the 1970s - during the conversations between the protagonist and Hanna Krall described in the reportage. The search for answers to the most important questions posed to us by both the Reporter and Edelman himself is the guiding axis connecting the individual threads of the story. Like the red thread.
