The film was originally called Alice in Wonderland and in 2007 was planned to be a short film. The final script for that version was around 25 pages and Carrozza wanted to make it in 2008 but was unable to for a variety of circumstances. Carrozza even filmed a single scene in June of 2008 but the actress, displeased by Carrozza's lack of resources and guerrilla style of doing things, walked off the shoot after one hour.
The lecture that Alison's father gives her about a man who lost in his hands in the Rwandan genocide was inspired almost word for word by a lecture given to Carrozza by his stepfather when he was 18.
The original actress cast as The Rabbit failed to show up for shooting. Finding a replacement was one of the most difficult and stressful parts of the film, as many of the women who auditioned wound up turning the part down.
The conversation the Mad Hatter and the March Hare have about vaginae at the beginning of the Mad Tea Party scene was inspired by a real conversation two friends of Carrozza's had at a gas station.
The first scene to be filmed was the President scene which was needed for a TV screen on the second day of shooting. The President character was closely patterned after George W. Bush whom Carrozza particularly dislikes. The scene would up being deleted from the standard/festival cut.
