Tyler Perry has wrapped production on the third movie in his four-picture deal with Amazon MGM Studios, a drama led by “P-Valley” and “Mea Culpa” star Shannon Thornton and “Run The World’s” Tosin Morohunfola.
Perry wrote, directed and produced the film, which recently wrapped filming on location in Colorado and at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta under the working title “Joy Ridge.”
“Amidst the picturesque landscapes of Colorado, Joy (Thornton) finds herself on a holiday trip with a man she envisions as ‘the one,” the film’s official logline reads. “However, her journey takes an enchanting turn as she stumbles upon someone who might just redefine her notions about the life she once knew back home.”
Tyler Perry Studios executives Angi Bones and Will Areu produced the film alongside Perry, who has now announced three of the movies in the four-picture deal he inked with Amazon in November 2022. Last June,...

Tyler Perry is one of the hardest-working creators in Hollywood, but he already has a vision of how he wants to spend his retirement.
The prolific actor/writer/director, 54, joined Kelly Ripa on her “Let’s Talk About It Off Camera” Sirius Xm podcast and was asked how he wants to spend his later years.
“Do you ever think about retiring and what that looks like for you?” Ripa asked Perry.
“I do, but I think my retirement will be more like Clint Eastwood, you know, so instead of doing 12 movies in four years, I’ll probably be doing one movie in six months or something like that,” Perry responded, referencing the legendary actor/director, who is still working into his 90s.
“Right. One movie in six months. I love that. So, a real slow down,” Ripa replied.
“A real slowdown, yeah, but ideally, I’d love to be on a beach smoking weed.

Tyler Perry has formalized a new creative partnership with Netflix to write, direct and produce feature films under a multi-year, first-look deal.
Perry already has five films under his belt at the streamer: “A Fall From Grace,” “A Madea Homecoming,” the period drama “A Jazzman’s Blues”, the upcoming World War II-set drama “Six Triple Eight” and the thriller “Mea Culpa.”
WME CEO Ari Emanuel teased the new pact at Bloomberg Media’s Screentime conference on Oct. 11. During the talk, Emanuel revealed that he’d just closed deals at Netflix for David Ellison and Perry. Pressed about the partnership in his own Screentime conversation, Perry played coy.
“He talks too much,” Perry joked, noting that the deal hadn’t been announced yet. “I’ll wait for them to announce it. But yeah, Netflix has been an incredible partner to work with, and so is Amazon. It’s been really, really, really incredible,...
