poor in very way- except for the locations
vittorio-1320 March 2024
I thought that hallmark movies were only for north America . , but in this case this movie could have worked if they took a little more time and maybe some better actors. I am not sure if it's the story because premisses is there and this should been a very good movie. Great location just poor acting and editing is the only i can think why this movie is so bad even for a romance movie in the end i keep watching it not because of the movie location and beautiful scenary which is excellent. So with that in mind i gave it a 4 stars. But it could have been much better oh well enjoy it as long it's free dont pay for it.

Cheap and Tasteless
cooldude-9485415 March 2024
The only good thing about the movie was the locations in which the movie was shot. Otherwise, it is a cheap, low budget and tasteless movie. The plot is wafer-thin, the story inconsistent and the climax non-existent. The acting was bad and the direction was amateurish at best. The direction focuses more on cheap, gross and tasteless stuff than the actual story line.

The lead actress has been gradually building her stature in industry with solid roles like those in Ataturk, Dirilis: Ertugrul and Ramo, and had been building an aura of grace, beauty and solid acting. This role ruins this image completely. The role focuses on cheap, distasteful and vulgar stuff, rather than any opportunity to demonstrate acting skills. The role suits more to a desperate B-grade movie star, rather than an A list actor. In my opinion, this role will hurt the stature and reputation of the lead actress in the long run.

Overall, an utter and sheer disappointment on all fronts.

This movie is a "Romantic Comedy" ....Except There's No Romance or Comedy
eceturkey17 March 2024
The movie claims to be a romantic comedy but there is literally no romance or humor to be found. The characters, both individually and as a couple, lack development, making it difficult to invest in their relationship. There's zero foundation for their connection or emotional journey. They just throw these two actors together with a revolving door of hair styles/colors and skimpy outfits (most with absolutely no relevance to the plot, by the way), Plus, they throw in random smooches with no build-up, no emotional depth, just a slapdash attempt to fulfill some quota.

It is obvious the movie was deliberately made to appeal to an audience that like shallow, lusty content (and Netflix is making lot of that kinda stuff lately) regardless of any story line. But for anyone craving a shred of romance, story, or even a chuckle, you'll be seriously disappointed.

What's truly baffling is that for such low-class, trashy film with no atristic merit, they managed to sign up Brikan and Esra! These are actors with serious chops (remember Brikan as Han in The Innocents, or Esra's phenomenal performance as Madame Corinne in Ataturk or Sibel in Ramo). Usually, it's unknown or unestablished actors desperate for a break who take on such trashy and vulgar roles.

One has to wonder if such demeaning roles will cheapen the brand of the lead actors and hurt their standing in serious acting circles. As a huge fan of both of these stars, it honestly saddens me to see them doing these kind of cheap roles.

Third Class Trash
janewatson-4227716 March 2024
Where do I even begin? Buckle up, dear reader, because Love of Art is a cinematic train wreck I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy.

The "thrilling" plot was as predictable as sun rising from the east. The movie was full of clichés, with zero character development, zero attention to pacing the story and zero focus on important moments. The "chemistry" between the lead actors was about as sizzling as a wet firecracker. Their forced interactions were painful to watch, and dialogue so clichéd it could have been written by a fortune cookie machine.

Then there's the direction. Imagine a middle school play directed by an overenthusiastic student council president. That's the vibe I got. The action sequences were so poorly choreographed I could've planned a better fight scene with a sock puppet show.

Honestly, the only thrilling aspect of this movie was the sheer audacity of it existing. Save yourself the wasted brain cells and avoid this cinematic catastrophe. You're welcome.

In all seriousness, it amazes me how Netflix agreed to put their name behind such nonsense. But then the quality of Netflix originals isn't the same as it used to be.

Rotten to the core
diego-2594118 March 2024
The movie had an interesting premise, but the execution fell flat. The script felt rushed and full of holes, with awkward dialogue and predictable plot points. It honestly felt like a poorly written teen novel from Wattpad. The story itself was full of clichés and didn't offer any surprises. Even though the lead actors were attractive, there was absolutely no spark between them. Their characters lacked depth and showed no growth throughout the film. It was hard to care about them as individuals or as a couple. Even the beautiful locations couldn't save the movie from its boring plot and weak acting.

Sorry but a waste of time
zazoz-3630221 March 2024
The plot is so overused in many movies and video clips and they gave the worst version of it.

The movie is more like a tourism advertisement for beautiful places, they focused more on the cinematography which was the only positive thing for me, but in an exaggerated way The name doesn't meet the content (Romance & comedy nerde !!!!!!!??????) + the acting level is low and boring. I've watched Birkan in (Masumlar Apartmani,Hayat Sarkisi and Yüz Yillik Mucize) and Esra (Ertugrul,Ramo) before their performances were way too better, here seems like they are faking it!

Their chemistry is 6/10 beautiful but not wow.

An incredibly bad film
halliebee17 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
"Art of Love" (original Turkish title: "Romantik Hirsiz") centers on the complicated relationship and chase between an art thief and an Interpol police officer working in an art department. Both the director and the screenwriter are known for their production of subpar romcom films, so that's the first red flag. But let's give this one a chance and see what happens, shall we? Besides, I am watching this mainly to see Esra Bilgiç, who had me in a total chokehold when she played Sibel Yildirim in Ramo a few years back.

So here, we have Alin, a beautiful police officer working in Interpol's Art Crimes Unit (which doesn't exist irl by the way...they have what's called a Cultural Heritage Unit which handles art theft/crimes). She goes after a thief who stole different paintings from high-security, famous museums. However, unlike traditional art thieves, this thief steals little-known paintings by little-known painters. Alin, who deepens the investigation to find the thief, comes face to face with an extraordinary truth while he is on the job: the thief is her former lover, Güney (played by Birkan Sokullu).

That reveal starts jump starts a shoddily remade template of Hollywood romantic thievery films, along with every cliché you can think of frequently used in the "love and theft" genre. The logical errors in the writing are too extreme to avoid. For example, it turns out our extraordinary art thief is actually an ultra-rich businessman who does not need money at all, but we never see this businessman working for his company. Things go his way, the money is already abundant, and the important thing is to continue stealing for the satisfaction of excitement. Another badly overdone cliché: our police lady is loyal to her job, but she decides she has to "get close" to the criminal - hr former lover - she is after because of her undercover duty. When unsealed accounts from the past become evident, business and "love" become mixed up...except, um, the writing is so bad that I have no reason to care about these monotone, one dimensional characters or their supposed previous "relationship." It doesn't help that Esra Bilgiç and Birkan Sokullu, who are both eye candy, have zero romantic chemistry and are the un-hottest, most snoozeworthy "couple" I've watched in a long time. Yawn.

As you can imagine, having no depth to work with in terms of the script makes it impossible for either of the leads to deliver a good performance. That's not their fault, but the bad result is the same. The dialogues and the scenes related to them are just plain superficial and cringe. There's no soul or emotion whatsoever. Predictability rules from the start and as a result there's no suspense, no thrill or suspense to be found anywhere.

I will say the aesthetics in many of the scenes are beautiful. Prague and the historical buildings and museums as a backdrop and presents a visually impressive production design. But the ridiculous vapidity of the story overshadows all this visuality.

Perhaps most disappointing was Bilgiç's weak performance and the unnecessary oversexualization of Alin. It was gross and uncalled for, and coupled with the horrible writing and shoddy plot progression, as a viewer you're made to feel you're watching a series of sexy/trashy clothing and jewelry ads for Bilgiç as a model, not an actual film that's supposed to be telling a gripping story.

Wattpad Class Screenwriting

Warning: Spoilers
God, all that budget they spent to the luxury cars. Europe tour and dresses just to inflate the bill should've just gone to a paper and a pen, or a Cork board maybe. Here is a minute to minute breakdown how awful this movie was:

00.37: Here our police officer is sexting with a guy and i must say even chatgpt is more sincere when it comes to sexting than these two.

00.50: Our romantic thief gets down from the roof he was on just to use the door. Not to mention he just needed a pin to breakdown to a security room of a museum. Also why the security room have an.apartment door bell?

01.07: I guess surveillance guys wanted some RGB lights on their servers.

01.30: Code on the computer said: IP CAMERA state: VULNERABLE. Honestly I laughed my ass off in this scene don't know about you guys but I suggest you do the same and cherish the slightest change you get to.laugh because this romantic "comedy" hardly contains any "comedy"

02.41: Guy says he is doing all this because he wants to help random underrated artists get some fame while literally cutting off their paintings and putting his signature black button that will only help him to get the fame as a mysterious thief. I guess I went a little hard on this show, saying that they don't do jokes.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I can do this all day but i leave the rest to the CinemaSins if he ever wants to review a garbage like this. I just wanted to underline the ones that happened even before film hasn't begun. Also:

03.21: INTERPOL AGENTS DO NOT CARRY BADGES OR GUN HOLLYWOOOOOOOOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BONUS

1- Alin changed 5 dresses in a single day including the one she went to sleep with.

2- Ozan ate/drank something 7 times out of 11 scenes he was in. 3 times of remaining which, he was on mission

3- Tables at the first party were so far apart that they probably use couriers instead of waiters

4- Guy does negative angle plank. Yeah. Yeah i know, With that kind of a.form.

In summary as a struggling screenwriter from Turkey it's sad to see this kind of garbage gets produced just because someone is pulling the strings. I'm sure there are 13 year old girls on Wattpad who could do a better job than Pelin Karamehmetoglu that wouldn't inflate the bill for Netflix to the point that ALMOST could be accounted as a felony. I'm not going to step into the other bunch of cliched screenwriting this movie contains and you can email me if you disagree. That's about it. Bye.

Wonderful
enizyilmaz17 March 2024
Great acting, a very nice project and congratulations to Esra Bilgic, who has overcome the lead role as she deserved. It is very good for a platform like Netflix to work on such a wonderful project with actors who show great acting. The film is very beautiful, simple and fluent. I congratulate everyone who contributed. Esra Bilgiç is very natural and she really displayed her role and acting perfectly. He literally took this beautiful project to the next level. I really enjoyed watching you, thank you for your acting. To summarize, the movie can be watched at any moment. If you want to spend your time well, log in to Netflix immediately and start watching.

Lackluster Scriptwriting
myprimusradio16 March 2024
Despite good cinematography and captivating locations, the movie falls flat with its clichéd plot, lackluster scriptwriting, and subpar acting. The revelation that the art thief is the protagonist's ex-lover feels contrived, and the attempts to inject suspense fall short due to predictable twists. The performances are hardly adequate and they struggle to breathe life into characters that feel one-dimensional and lacking in depth. The chemistry between the leads, meant to ignite the screen with passion and conflict, fizzles rather than sparks, making it difficult for viewers to invest in their journey. While the visuals offer moments of aesthetic pleasure, they can't compensate for the film's overall lack of substance. The movie may dazzle the eyes, but it leaves much to be desired in terms of storytelling and execution.

A disappointment all around, especially considering the lead actress' former talent
butterflyyhigh16 March 2024
I'm going to write this review in a way that avoids giving any spoilers at all. Here goes...the one-line plot summary sounded good, but it turns out the way the lackluster and hole-filled script - dialogue, transitions, important moments - was written and executed seemed as though it was pulled off a teenager's even-worse-than-mediocre Wattpad fanfic page.

The plot is contrived nonsense, and by about 10 minutes in, you know exactly what's going to happen. There's zero suspense, only predictability littered with boring cliches along the way.

There is zero chemistry between the lead actors. They are both very good looking, but there's zero fire, passion, or electricity between them. Zero character depth or growth throughout the film. Zero investment in the characters individually or as a "couple."

The shooting locations were beautiful. That's the only positive, hence the one star.

I have to say that I was most shocked at how bad the performance of the lead actress was. I discovered Esra Bilgiç through her role as Sibel on Ramo a few years ago, and she was absolutely legendary. Her talent then was the complete opposite of what I watched here, and it was extremely disappointing. I hope she will re-hone her acting skills, and then go back to taking on valuable, legendary roles instead of cheap, vulgar, contrived, forgettable trash characters like Alin.

Skip it.

Chip rip off, Shame !
orhzen17 March 2024
The storyline stolen from the classic "The Thomas Crown Affair". Its not an adaptation. No credit to original story writer. There are two versions; one with Steve Mcqueen and Faye Dunaway made in 68 and the other one made in 1999 with Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo. They're both decent, good time movies. I can not say the same thing about this one.

Such a shame wanna be writers steal from a classic and getting away with it. These writer make a living of a stolen idea when such original stories waiting on the sideline in Turkey. Netflix Turkey has become so corrupt no talents are welcome there. I'm sure global Netflix has no idea what kind of shananagans going on under its management.

Falls flat quickly, and stays there permanently.
hyacinthh17 March 2024
Unfortunately, the entire duration of the film was just one big contrivance from start to finish. No depth in the script, performances, or scenes. As others have said, the only good part of the "Art of Love" was the backdrops/landscapes (Istanbul and Prague) in many of the scenes. Esra Bilgiç, who is usually a terrific actress, was awful in the role of Alin and the vapidness of Alin's personality along with the focus on her appearance reminded me of those gross model stereotypes. Birkan Sokullu was relegated to an airhead character who grinned and looked suave without any substance to his personality. Bilgiç and Sokullu have zero chemistry, romantic or otherwise. The whole story and what was going to happen was predictable a few minutes in. Not worth the time.

Boring to death
redeem_er27 March 2024
Actors 'Esra' and 'Birkan' are good actors and have something in common and that is both have cancelled series 'Kanunsuz Topraklar' and 'Yüz Yillik Mucize'. Then comes 'Art of Love' which bring them together to another failure project! Is it all about the money, or about something called Netflix algorithm -- I must do Netflix flic? There are so many heist movies from American movies, British movies, and Spanish movies, but this one 'Art of Love' tops them all with non-sense scenario, nerd dialect, and boredom story that someone cannot imagine. They could have done a movie with a much better and more elegant story and scenario. The only beautiful thing about this movie is the wonderful places where the movie was shot.

Not this one
nixy-caos28 March 2024
Despite its promising start and beautiful scenery, "Art of Love" ultimately disappoints. The story is filled with clichés and predictable moments, failing to engage the audience. Even the talented lead actors, known for some previous great performances, struggle to bring their characters to life, resulting in a lackluster performance. While the film boasts stunning visuals, it lacks a compelling storyline. In the end, "Art of Love" falls short of making a lasting impression as a captivating romantic comedy. So, if you are loongking for some fresh and nice rom-com, I am sorry to disappoint you, this is not the one, I think.

Are we sure that Alin is interpol agent...
zulalyilmaz-5709822 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
All the movie is nonsense but let me talk about the most. Alin (agent of interpol) think that they don't understand her job 😭 girl you scream behind the man, you searched his house, you follow him, you came his place and fighting his friend, and then she shocked when Güney said he knows everything 🗿 And what kind of interpol agent(s) ignore a thief? Really? It could have been a really good movie if it had a little more logic, reality and drama. It would definitely be more impressive to watch the story of a strong woman who has to arrest the person she loves and makes logical decisions. Not everything has to be romanticized.

THE BEST MOVIE
mksfs16 March 2024
The film is really interesting it even becomes my favorite film it's an enemy to lovers film the best made of all time because the story is captivating and you want to know more after every second and when you watch the end you say to yourself that the film was simply wow. It's not a film that we see often because this type of film is very rare in any case I find that the film is very well done whether it's the images or the places where it was filmed the film is really intriguing and you realize it's really well done and really well imagined and that even we wouldn't have found from the start if we wouldn't have watched the end I give it a 10/10! Because I don't see where the fault in this film is.

Stunning
alevsupremacy16 March 2024
An incredible cast, picturesque locations all flavored by a sweet love story. Esra Bilgiç is finally back on screens with such a stunning project. The plot is kinda intriguing, you wonder how it ends. Is it love or just a game? Above all we are attracted how detective and love story are shown together. I never thought Esra and Birkan would have a good chemistry but they proved me wrong. The stylist work deserves special appreciation. I also loved the camera effects, especially in the beginning of the movie.

This will light up your day! I highly recommend to watch it for those who love romantic comedies.

Esra Bilgic is amazing
mehsufk17 March 2024
Esra Bilgiç suits the screen very well. It was a very enjoyable experience. They were also compatible with Birkan. Will there be a second part of the movieI loved him very much. I wish there were more action scenes. The script was weak. The acting was very good. It must be one of Netflix s most successful productions. Foreigners do it, why shouldn't we Shooting techniques are extremely good. The quality of the film makes itself felt. I don't understand why it got low ratings. He deserves so much more. I will watch it for the 2nd time. I would like to watch women at work more. Birkan was very handsome. The fight scene was very good. It was amazing how Esra bilgiç conveyed the emotion in the first encounter scene..

the movie was very high quality and beautiful
gizemisp17 March 2024
The movie was very high quality and beautiful. Esra Bilgiç's acting so soooo great. She is very beautifulll. The historical places taken are very beautiful. The fight scene was very good and made me very excited. Romantic Thief literally captivated me with its lively characters and unusual story. The combination of romantic and decriminalizing elements in the film created an unexpected balance and depth. Birkan Sokullu's performance was remarkable for his charismatic stance in the scenes and his ability to reflect the inner world of the character. The harmony between the two was devently good.

If you give it a chance im sure you will like it
tozal18 March 2024
Well, as i former actor, i really liked the idea and concept of this movie. I think Turkish romantic movies is getting bigger and this movie is the indicator of this fact. You can find fun, love and action in. This movie. Esra Bilgiç is one of the rising star of Turkiye and we will see her a lot in the future. Connection between Birkan and Esra is amazing. I really want to see them together in another movie. If you expect a lot from this movie you will be disappointed so just watch this in a relaxed way. Only thing that i can criticize from this movie is dialogues. Something was missing from the dialogues. Besides that just give it a shot.

sarpmisali17 March 2024
The movie was very successful. It makes you feel like a foreign movie. I think we should congratulate him. I would like to see more love and action. Esra and Birkan's harmony was wonderful. Two names that suit the screen very well. They deserve more. I couldn't see much benefit from the script. The last scene was my favorite. I think this movie should be given a chance. It was not bad. Could it be better? We must congratulate everyone who contributed. I love Netflix's Turkish productions. They are all very valuable to us. I hope we watch the sequel of this movie and it meets our expectations. I would like to watch Esra and Birkan on television.
